+ GEMI RETURNS TO SEOUL AFTER EXTENDED VACATION IN THE U.S
Spiced’s leader has finally returned back to Korea after a two month stay in her hometown of Miami, Florida in the United States. Since the promotions ended on their ‘Prism’ mini album, the girls have all pretty much stayed low and out of the public eye–or have at least tried to. Gemi’s visits home have increased dramatically over the last year, and many fans think they know why. The idol’s grandmother’s health has been on a steady decline since around Christmas of last year. Gemi has stated in an interview before that she’s tried an infinite number of times to convince her grandmother to move to Korea to be closer to her (or even Japan to be with Gemi’s mother), but she insists on staying in the US. In the last year alone, Gemi has visited Miami a whopping ten times–much more often than most idols are able to go home to see their families. Although, we cannot confirm or deny the reason why Gemi did visit for so long, or even the status of her grandmother’s health, we are happy to say the leader is back, and hope she’s here to stay.
Her return also comes days after the MAMA Awards, which she and Spiced decided to sit out on this year. The group, despite having tremendous success with both their full length album, and mini album, the girls unfortunately did not take anything home. This is the first time since 2011 that the girls as a group, as a subunit, or as a solo act have not taken anything home from MAMA awards. There have been no comments by any of the girls as to why they didn’t attend, nor have there been any comments from their company representatives. Hopefully, with the return of Gemi to Korea, the group will begin to reemerge from the shadows and come back to making public appearances!
