“ so zack really didn’t make you up, huh ? ” hands settled at his hips in, admittedly, a very zack - like fashion if he took a moment to consider it, as he leaned just a tad closer to inspect the woman. though realizing he may’ve been overstepping by so, he took a step back, arms folded.

“ hey, zack --- doesn’t aerith live around here ? ” so trudged the duo through the streets of the sector 5 slums, looking for work. there were plenty of people needing help with shinra’s reign being just as detrimental to the lower class as it benefited the city as a whole.

“ tifa, you’re our guide ? ” not that they needed a guide around nibelheim, per se. the mako reactor was another story entirely. and not that he was really complaining either --- he got to now spend more time with her than he thought he would on this mission.
“ i was plannin’ on surprisin’ you later, but ... ” lips curled upwards in a grin. “ well, surprise. told you i’d be back as a soldier. ”

“ wait, he just offered you a date as payment, and you went with it ? ” did zack really have that much game ? if so, well --- it wasn’t like cloud didn’t expect it. just ... he couldn’t see himself pulling that and having it work.

it wasn’t their first time in midgar, but it was their first time wandering the slums in five years. they were half - dead, just lumbering along, so even if cloud wanted to break away to ask how to get to the train, he’d probably collapse before he got there.

in that au, by the way, i know i mentioned cloud’s personality being a little different --- it really is. during cc, at nibelheim, he’s closer to zack’s personality type than cloud normally. he’s ecstatic to be there, happy to see tifa, happy to show off all he’s accomplished. during ffvii / ffvii r, he’s more subdued, closer to the “ real cloud ”. timid at times, when it’s emotionally taxing, mischievous at others. he literally said “ heya ” in my starter for court like :eyes:. i think this definitely speaks to the influence zack has had on him and his own accomplishments.
“ heya, ” he said a bit --- er --- timidly as he stepped into the supposed - to - be closed bar. he’d hardly believed zack when he’d regained consciousness; tifa was here in midgar, right where they’d happened to be headed. don’t misinterpret his hesitance as a lack of excitement. it was more so that the last time they’d been together, the situation had been less than ideal. he could still hear her rage - filled voice ...
