Hebe is a himejoshi
Eros is bird-like because... not only is Phanes the Father of All Birds---they’re older than the Titans and possibly older than the sky himself---but also because I have a Mighty Need to write people with wings as, like, Bird People because birds are Alien and Frightening.
Hebe is also a Winged Person but she’s like... cute about it.
Can't really get too in depth about it rn but I need to get into Hebe and Youth and Sexuality and Adolescence.
And how it's related to how I probably won't write much if any shippy stuff with Hebe until sometime after she ends up divorcing Herakles
Because she was basically in some kind of arrested development forever teen stage and it wasn't until fairly recently (for her) that the concept of extended adolescence stretched far enough for me to justify her being in her 20s
Do you think Hera or Hebe or both have any tendencies to truly hold grudges? Or does it only SEEM like it but they are like "oh shit i forgot about that lol" after initial reaction?
coda to this hc.
Hera? Grudge holder. Absolutely a grudge holder. But I think it's like... a situation where it's either, like...
"I'm over it" (very much not over it) or people assume that she's holding a grudge, but she doesn't really care anymore. She hasn't forgotten by any means, but she can get over it.
TBH if her revenge is satisfactory, she works the upset out of her system and everything is OK after. Mostly.
Hebe? She's really bad at holding grudges. She can hold upset or bad feelings towards people or situations if they don't get resolved (situations more than people tbh), but she isn't really prone to grudges.
For example, the "less evolved" way of her dealing with upset is to just repress the feeling until she memory holes it (which she's still upset, but doesn't remember why so it's easier to ignore) or the dam breaks.
The "more evolved" way of her dealing with it would be to just... tell whoever upset her what upset her and why, and then once she says her piece she's Over It.
In modern/contemporary times, Hebe and Herakles are no longer married to each other. They divorced at some unspecified time and though they still have contact---their sons are very fond of them both, and they didn’t end on bad terms---they have come to the unspoken mutual agreement to pretend that they were never married and their sons born of some sort of immaculate conception.
---I’m willing willing to renegotiate Herakles’ marital status with other Hebe players, but I would prefer that Hebe herself is divorced.
