tanya was born in slovakia to a close knit family. even with more siblings than fingers on a hand, her parents very willingly took in her grandparents. with them residing with tanya’s family, her great-aunt would sometimes visit. their bond was like no other, and it was clear that sasha played favorites. perhaps, it was that attention that made tanya so oblivious to the signs of what their aunt was. once they became aware, it was too late. just like her, now tanya was an immortal being. they wandered europe together and picked up kate and irina on the way. it was a life tanya felt happy with. and though she was her great-aunt, she really started regarding sasha as her mother and guide. when the volturi ripped her away from the coven for her crime of creating an immortal child, tanya was devastated. for a long time, those emotions mixed. she continues to miss her terribly so ; sometimes she wonders why sasha’s greed led her down that path though. [death & murder tw] the void left by sasha’s demise was filled with the attention ( and subsequent draining ) of human lovers. they came in all different shapes, identities, and walks of life. for a while, it numbed the pain. however, guilt began trickling in. and in truth, she even grieved the losses of some of her human lovers. eventually, her and her sisters discovered that an animal blood only diet was sustainable. between then and today, carmen and eleazer would join their coven and they’d find permanent residency in alaska.
