"Holly will be home in an hour, and I'm not trying to blackmail you with that, but... you know she'll be disappointed if she doesn't get to see her favorite aunt." Her only aunt.

He doesn't really think twice before pulling her in for a hug. The only thing he'd been able to think about lately was his sister - how he was going to push beyond the mistrust that had always lingered, and how to not let it change the way his daughter saw her aunt. It was simply the first breath he'd taken in what felt like weeks, feeling her return the embrace, his lips pressing gently against the top of her head, "Hey."
