Jacob suppressed a laugh, which warped into a derisive choke. Seeing Kaiden’s outfit, oddly enough, brightened his day beyond the added frustration that he got from actually seeing the other’s face in the same part of town as him. The two hadn’t gotten along from their first encounter, their second, and beyond. At some point, it seemed useless to the both of them to try to repair their relations, and they both embraced their mutual dislike from then on. “I mean, I didn’t expect much from a nurse, but 2009 fashion hasn’t revisited us quite yet.”

Gabriel didn’t waste time with trying to figure out someone’s sexual orientation. In this part of town, it was a safe bet that any man you saw had homoerotic tendencies. If not, Gabriel had been known from time to time to be able to persuade them otherwise. He had seen Kaiden several times at this same bar, a place where elites gathered now and then to buy expensive drinks, talk politics, and bask in a brotherhood of their wealthy status. Gabriel found it sleazy, but at the same time useful. Picking up the influential was always rewarding work. In this case, Kaiden, who was a diamond in the rough, had caught Gabriel's eye, and he was exhausted by not being in conversation with him.

With a huff of nighttime air into his scarf, Kaiden furrowed his brows and turned his gaze to a figure he sensed nearby. It was strange--it seemed familiar, in a way, but he didn’t really know why. “Who’s there?” he asked, as if he felt like there was no threat against him.

He had to admit, he was a little lost. Though, he was a lot of the time, despite how long he’s been around. “Wait--I’m sorry, who is this...?” It was a whisper in her ear, because he wasn’t sure if he was supposed to know beforehand. Honestly, if he was told the name if this stranger, he wasn’t paying attention.
