I want to clarify that my english is not good/native language. I use this asks for character development, meaning that the answers are big and can be a bit tiring to read + I’m not a writer but… I hope you enjoy! :)
1. What is their secret identity? do they have any nicknames? what is the meaning behind them?
His name is Mashda Aayari, he’s Middle Eastern. I figure him to be 34 (he looks like the dad/uncle of all steps) He only has one nickname, “Masi”. On my HC, Mashda is HoH, makes petnames to close people (that’s self inserted tbh). Mashda was calling Ortega “Richi” all the time, so Ricardo made a nickname to him that rhymes, Masi & Richi.
(Storytime) Ricardo and Mashda got a special bond in the sidestep days, Ricardo helped Mashda with getting accostumed to speak a bit, and Mashda showed him sign language :)
2. What is their sexual/romantic orientation and gender?
He’s a male (cis), uses he/him pronouns. And he’s gay, big gay
3. What is their villain name? Why did they choose it?
Sidestep. He was blinded by his own cowardice, thinking he could defy his own past wearing the same cape. But he just got hit right in the guts after all the mayhem he caused. Mashda knew that he was just concealing all this feelings for years, he made a first boom on his first appearance as a villain. Becoming Sidestep meant something new, something he doesn’t likes at all and hopes to change soon in Book II.
4. What does their villain armor look like? What is their typical style of dress?
His whole look resembles Sidestep’s original design, the patterns are pretty much the same, and the helmet has that two things too. The helmet has a “thing” that empowers his telepathic powers, looks like a third eye that follows the movement of whatever target his confronting. Oh! I almost forgot that he wears heels.
(Storytime) Mortum and Aya (Mashda’s puppet) are always joking about “oh, imagine if he was the real Sidestep hohoho”. She tells Aya if adding heels would be ok, just for messing with the “boss” and if it was the real Step, he needed some “anonymity”, and of course, Aya/Mashda couldn’t say no, maybe because it could sound suspicious or Masi thought it was a good idea, no one knows.
5. What is their zodiac sign?
He’s a sagittarius, born on December 15!
21. what is their philosophy?
He’s a double-minded person, you might know the part where he acts like a clown, everything is about making everyone laugh or irritated. But it might suprise you that he’s a conscientious man, someone who knows well what the big picture is about. This makes it hard to play by his own rules, he can be helping out civilians in danger but at the same time be so heartless to take down a floating castle, making a couple of kids cry and find it amusing, the audacity! >:(
(But for real he’s just a big mess, I would like to say he’s amoral and arrogant, it’s difficult to put a stable plan in a character like this :0)
22. How do they feel about their telepathy? Is it a gift? A curse?
In my HC, Mashda is HoH (hard of hearing), most of what he hears are faint mumblings, being a telepath has helped him to talk fluently. At a more personal level, he just think it’s neat, a relly precious tool he will missed dearly if it’s gone, so yeah, he basically thinks of it as a gift.
23. How do they feel about possessing people?
Pretty excited, like a little child causing mayhem. He enjoy this a lot and treats most of them like toys. But then there’s Aya, he’s too fond of his own puppet and just the idea of getting her hurt pissed him a lot, after all she’s his only friend, in a way.
