Kotaru is not well. They suffered in Nohr, especially at the hands of people who, in theory, they should have a right to trust; if Garon wasn’t there to deliver punishment, there were servants there who were, and even if someone never laid a finger upon them, Kotaru never felt safe enough to reach out, to actually become closer with these people; like, they’re six. They’re six years old and they don’t feel the ability to trust, to love the people around them because of what’s gone on. Garon, in essence, abused and gaslighted them for a good two years of their childhood. They didn’t meet the Nohrian siblings ( who were literal saving graces for them you don’t even understand ) until after Kotaru had kind of given up. As such, they suffer from C-PTSD, a form of the illness which comes from an even that takes place over long period of time as opposed to one singular event.

Let’s be real: return it. But like, not in the normal way? They’d go around and ask everyone and try to make super duper extra sure that it’s actually that person’s wallet. Dear god, stop Kotaru.
