@marveliing gets a thing for brooke!

          DAISIES. exactly like the ones he had left at her own door on a regular basis with little notes full of poems he had enjoyed as a young man. if anyone had ever wondered, steve rogers was a damn ROMANTIC. and maybe it had been weird ( he PRAYED she didn’t think it was creepy ) but ... well, he was BAD at directly approaching anyone. but this ... this was new. the daisies were at HIS door this time with a fresh note. he crouched down slowly and tugged the note free of the stand stuck within the vase. the writing was familiar. 

         Dinner? Check Yes or No. (: - B

         brooke. she wanted to have DINNER with him. she was asking him. times had surely changed but steve didn’t mind ONE BIT.

         pocketing the note, steve straightened up quickly and turned away from his apartment. he could easily check the note and slide it beneath her own door once he got there. but something spurred him on and SUDDENLY, he was knocking gently on the wood and praying she was actually home.

             “ nick ?? ” her eyes water before she can stop them. her hands TREMBLE. so much of her had assumed she’d never find them again. the fight out of the stadium had been ROUGH. she nearly hadn’t survived. multiple times. but something had guided her through the mass of dead. the fire. and now she was HERE. staring at the back of a head that seemed so familiar. but he hadn’t turned around yet and she was TERRIFIED of what she would see when and IF he did. “ n-nick ... ”

              he’s not SURE of the woman quite yet. doesn’t offer her a CANDY. because he knows she could take him out in a second and he’s not overly eager to offend her in any way. “ ma’am... ” he offers her a quick SMILE. “ have y’seen a woman recently ?? ” he won’t lose HOPE. “ her name is laura. or ... well, naomi. blonde hair. has a gun JUST like this one. ” he holds it out towards her. lets her study it for a quick second before pulling it close once again.

         the warmth of his hand spreads quickly; encompassing her entire body with a comfort she hasn’t felt in AGES. it brings a warm smile to her lips as she leans ever so slightly into his touch. outside eyes wouldn’t be able to deduce anything different about the pair. they were good at HIDING things. at least for now. they were still figuring it out. and she wasn’t willing to break the news to her kids quite yet. not when so much was constantly happening around them. one small change and things could crumble. she sips at her water quickly and tilts her head to glance at him; warm smile still dancing over her lips. ‘ yeah. you know where to find me. ’
