a look inside daisy mae’s diaper bag for mabel. + headcanons aka me rambling.
daisy mae found herself overwhelmed with the anxious need to be fully prepared for anything “just in case” this combined with her feeling like she had to go above and beyond to prove to people she wasn’t some irresponsible / lazy teen mom who didn’t bother doing her research meant that her daughter’s diaper bag was packed to the brim with things it didn’t really need. lots of unnecessary extras of things.
it was usually well organized but sometimes yes it looked like a baby store blew up inside; mixed with a few random personal items of her own.
items not pictured: at least half a pack’s worth of Huggies little snuggler diapers which would be replaced with pampers easy up “training underwear” since by the time of mabel’s death they had been working on potty training. a non contact thermometer, pacifier / bottle wipes, a few bottles of water for her formula bottles before she transitioned to cow’s milk, more toys and stuffed animals, a a “busy book”, vicks babyrub ( Vicks VapoRub ), infant tylenol, and a first aid kit.
at one time daisy mae had figured she could give the bag away when Mabel was old enough to not need a diaper bag; perhaps to a friend. but now it sits on the top shelf of her closet, still lightly packed with items and untouched since the tragedy. beechnut fruit and veggie pouches, gerber’s mild cheddar lil’ crunchies, and yogurt melts all long expired but she can’t throw them out.
