what was your Emo Experience TM like music-wise?
kavya, you have just opened the flood gates
i like to thank all of my friends on quotev for getting me into emo music haha, i used to be super active on there back in 2015. the first band i started listening to was fall out boy. through fob, i got into bands like panic! at the disco, cobra starship, the academy is..., my chemical romance, paramore, and the og’s like green day, blink, weezer, and sum 41.
in like 2016 ish i migrated from quotev to instagram, which led me to start listening to all time low. through all time low i found bands like tonight alive, you me at six, and we are the in crowd. jack and alex from all time low used to do a podcast called ‘full frontal’ & on that podcast they played a lot of music - alkaline trio, the starting line, senses fail, cartel, allister, etc.
i think around late 2016/early 2017 is when i discovered new age pop punk. this includes bands like the wonder years, seaway, knuckle puck, as it is, neck deep, citizen, the story so far, boston manor, state champs, grayscale, waterparks, sorority noise, trophy eyes, moose blood etc.
in the summer of 2017 i went through a phase where the only things i would listen to were heavyish bands (tbh it’s not super heavy, but it is more screaming than what i listened to before) - ice nine kills, a day to remember, beartooth, underoath, wage war, knocked loose, blessthefall, silverstein, and issues. this is also when i really got into gothic pop punk bands like can’t swim & creeper.
ummm i kinda blocked out 2018-2020 from my memory but some bands that i think i started listening to in those years are movements, joyce manor, turnover, bearings, hot mulligan, and basement.
there’s definitely more bands than that but that’s a “brief” overview of my emo/alternate experience :D
not gonna lie, the sith warriors storyline still reigns supreme in my heart
i deleted instagram and tumblr from my phone. life has never been better
hee hee stream time agaib

You don't sound whiny or needy all. I'm still going through my teen years, but they're almost over. And I've never kissed anyone or hooked up with anyone, and hearing my friends talk about asking people out makes me feel so crappy, because I just feel like I'm just not good enough for anyone to actually like me. And that feeling hurts, it really does.
yes to all of this!! it’s so so hard to feel 100% confident in yourself when you feel like no one wants you romantically and/or sexually. but i have found music can help with those feelings💓💓
