hot damn I forgot what an amazing movie the force awakens is. really a shame they never made any sequels. it sets up so many interesting things. would've been great if they ever got closure.

i have a lot of feelings but not yet a completely coherent thought about the way star wars is so heavily about characters who you know, going in, are already dead. padme. anakin. cassian. leia. obi-wan. bail and breha. melshi. saw gerrera. owen and beru. alderaan. the entirety of star wars, watched in release order, is an act of memento mori.
Poe/Finn/Rey or Cassian/Jyn/Bohdi and why?
Oooh, you're asking the bracket-master (I don't think that's a thing) about a match-up!
Poe/Finn/Rey, because I think they were written in TFA to become A TRIO who would be A TRIO and function as A TRIO and I think they answer each others' essential wounds, which is the most romantic thing fictional characters can do for one another. Poe offers Rey a family and Finn individuality. Rey offers Poe faith/something bigger than the fight and Finn someone who really sees him. Finn offers Poe renewed belief in the goodness of humanity and the reason for fighting, and Rey someone who came back for her/won't leave her behind.
Thoughts on Padmé Amidala aka best queen?
Oh, boy. Padme is so very Jewish. Such a Jewish queen with such a Jewish story. Padme is Esther! I think I've written before about Padme's parallels to Esther in TPM when she approaches the gungans in disguise to save her people, but heLLO she approaches the enemy in disguise to save her people! And until Padme, the gungans ARE an enemy of the Nabooian people, or at least they're Carefully Neutral in a way that doesn't benefit the Naboo. I'm not feeling particularly eloquent today and don't want to rewrite my whole spiel, but I have a lot of Feelings about how deeply Jewish both Padme and Leia (Leah) are. I just spent like an hour searching my SW meta tag and couldn't find the old post about it, but somewhere in the internet! It's there! Other people have also written a lot about Padme being so based on Esther, too!
i honestly love that no attempt was made to make max rebo look like less of a shitty vinyl pillow-pet. like, everything in star wars these days is so heavily detailed and pristine and color-matched and then there’s bright electric blue shiny pillow-pet elephant max rebo and we’re all just like, “yes, this is my favorite jizz musician, yes he is a space elephant, yes he clashes with the entire room, yes he’s perfect.”
i’m going to be extremely normal about star wars
and not reblog a lengthy post about how “finn was a villain with a redemption arc” with “FINN WAS A CHILD SLAVE, HE DIDN’T NEED TO ATONE FOR ANYTHING, YOU JAGWEED”
i’m going to be extremely normal about star wars
and not reblog a post about how obi-wan could have helped anakin at mustafar with “ANAKIN HAD ALREADY MURDERED LIKE 30 CHILDREN”
i’m growing

i’m so excited to get to erin kellyman
i am so happy that her agent just calls up disney and is like “hey, do you have any roles for a beautiful teenage girl terrorist slash freedom fighter who wears a mask, beats up Dudes, and is Correct?”
and disney is like, “yes.”
