Inside it were new sports equipment, and -now, this was oh so innocently tucked in the corner of the box- a tomato plush toy.
Even today of all days was Itachi able to slip in a teasing nudge at his beloved little brother.
All the same, the sentiment was one that was also filled with genuine affection.
“Merry Christmas, Otouto.”
✡— A medium sized white box was presented on the table ahead of him, a delicately added vermillion bow to complement it on top. He removed his shoes before the door, stepping inside as he sat to unwrap the present.
As his fingers delicately slid off, Sasuke curiously glanced inside the box, eyes landing on new sports equipment and a smaller tomato plush toy. A smile tugged at his lips, as he allowed it to faintly appear for the Niisan.
❝ Thanks, these are congenial. They should come in handy in the future. ❞
Sasuke tried to conceal his smile, thought once it slip, his eyes caught hold of his brothers genuine smile, a vaguely audible laugh vocalizing.
❝ I suppose I should give you your gift now. ❞
“You’re welcome.” A pause. "Even the plush toy?” came the small, joking jab.
Settling down in one of the chairs at the dining table, Itachi rested his chin on his knuckles, his lips curved gently upwards.
It was a peaceful evening at the Uchiha household- a state that needless to say bore quite a contrast to the festivities that positively permeated the air surrounding the city. Itachi was fairly certain that most restaurants ought to be thoroughly booked by lovestruck couples.
With the brothers, the celebration had always been a quiet affair for them.
Although... It would have been livelier if their mother was still around, but there wasn’t any need to bring that up now, was there?
