well hmm idk how unpopular it is but i feel like its contrary to the popular belief hes not the perfect guy he seems to be (with this interpretation theres a lot of Negative Habits that actually led to the ‘Perfect’ construct)

♚ Do you agree with fandom interpretation of your character?

oh, ohhhhhhhhh,

on one hand i accept the lobster jokes wholeheartedly, i feel like ryoma’s very much metaphorically shelled off as well as literally so. lobster. sure.

but when people think ryomas just inherently perfect I GET SO ANGRY its all a very well-crafted act and anyone that thinks ryoma’s perfect and doesn’t have any more depth to that wasn’t Fucking Paying Attention To Subakis Entire Character And I Will Shove Subaki In Your Face If It Will Make You Understand My Point....nobody’s perfect? nobody. there’s always a flaw. The columns of the Parthenon are curved.

♧ Any part of their canon portrayal you dislike?

im not fond of a lot of his s-rank supports, frankly, but that’s me being very, very sick and tired of jrpg boys being ‘let me protect you’ to women, which is. most of ryomas s-supports. 

i think the most stuff i dislike is how certain supports are handled and how supports that could’ve been very good for ryomas character development never had a chance to happen--subaki and ryoma having supports could’ve had potential for showing potential hidden depths, and i feel like kaze being his retainers brother should’ve like, merited him having supports with ryoma too? I want ryoma and leo to have had supports as well but that’s guilty pleasure wishful thinking; i also wish his and xanders supports were. not like that. they feel very uncharacteristic to the whole buildup of their interactions across the games prior to revelation and even in revelation.

✦ Has your own interpretation changed from when you first began playing the character?

i feel like....his potential fears got exaggerated. his paranoia got expanded upon? thats about it i think?

✍ Has new canon material ever forced you to adjust your headcanons?

well. i know ive had to accomodate stuff i didnt really pay much attention to at first--ie ryoma saying he was right there when sumeragi died--i guess the ryomarx supports maybe, because i did start this blog before getting revelation completed and the supports were. not what i was expecting at all.

✎ What do you wish the author would reveal/had revealed about your muse?

a lot actually; though i would’ve been fine with just having his concerns expanded upon, also i want supports with him and leo since they were supposed to be??? ruling allies?? in one continuity?? i wanna see what that dynamic is like

ill take that as regarding crack

tbh ic crack (like the marriage fiasco that happened earlier on this blog yesterday!) is tomfoolery i find much the most rewarding? like it’s a good time you actually get an opportunity to be in character it breaks the ice with certain muns, its Good and it’s also my element 

also being too ooc with crack i feel just. Really hurts your character’s reputation especially if you have a big following. like, do what you want i guess, but being one to partake in ic crack more than slapping ‘crack’ on really ooc shitposting sort of just. retains the sense of character while placing said character into unusual situations. idk maybe its b/c i watch too much bob’s burgers or steven universe but you can get a lot of mileage just out of new and unusual situations in terms of comedy, and just memeing might create unsavory fanon and. Trust me as someone who used to make bucket jokes when they were a very young and naive homestuck it’s good to meme responsibly™ so you don’t make trainwrecks like 2012 gigi.

Not to say that sort of crack isn’t FUNNY, but i can’t bring myself to break character too much personally due to past experience.

why aren’t we using magic to hand-wave the children existing in dfab/dfab dmab/dmab character relationships more we have teleportation spells in fates im sure we can get magic gayby spells

hell even then, consider: functional polyamory where some marriages are out of love and others are to secure a heir/perform the functions marriage was historically meant to function

idk!! ive just been seeing a lot of western normalcy with dealing with childbearing relationships in the fates fandom--which i guess i can see considering it pushes heterosexuality so much--but as someone who’s only really truly excited about maybe 2 or 3 of her muses’ s-rank options and prefer him w/ male characters vastly i just

while im salting about ships

I don’t really. care for ryoma with his retainers. at like. all. as ships. Kagero gets points for confessing first and unrequited kagero/ryoma would be something i wouldn’t mind exploring maybe but??

ryoma has a very, very different relationship with his retainers than basically any other lord, saizo’s basically an heirloom retainer with his genes passed down for generations like raijinto, and....if i do remember correctly ryoma didn’t directly choose kagero, mikoto did? Either way it doesn’t have the sense of autonomously going for his retainers like the Nohrians did, or how Sakura and Takumi seemed to be able to do. It’s a very professional relationship with both of them and while Ryoma definitely cares about both his retainers very much...he’s also very hospitable in his supports in general so its just a ‘oh he’s like that with everyone it doesn’t really mean he likes them that way’ vibe from me. its just Ryoma being Ryoma. 

Something about the devotion Ryoma and Saizo has for each other just. never seems to be anything other than platonic? like there’s reasons for that existing imo, the lord’s duty to provide for and supervise their direct subordinates, a retainer’s job to be willing to protect their lord at all costs, ryoma’s nature in general in supports, and of course the fact that both of them grew up knowing that their relationship was lord/retainer from the get go?? idk it’s not something I can read as having romantic love bloom into it. 

i get nervous w/ every kagero b/c of this admittedly and it makes me thankful more ryomas are popping up because idk. im not here for this as much as u probably are

y’all arent given me any breaks w/ themes omg

I don’t understand people that do exclusives like I get the idea you want to be secure with who you’re rping with and you want continuity but also. 

What if your partner takes a hiatus, gets into a different fandom, leaves b/c of exhaustion and drama, what if they’re just a drifter

What then

Listen I’ve had partners like that, I’m a partner like that (and people generally enjoy me and I’m still friends with those partners that have lost touch with their original muse when we were in a CCG) and sometimes with rarepairs I get it, that was a Special Thing between you and the other partner and you probably couldn’t replicate the experience but.

In some cases I guess I’ve accepted transience. Ive seen too many partners come and go that exclusives feel like shooting myself in the foot. 

I’m ok with mains because I definitely do have muses/writers I’m more comfortable with for different reasons and may favor more and people should be aware of that! However exclusivity just feels like it’s going to harm me in the long run.

I’m generally not one to get super vocal about ships on this blog ooc because well...idk I personally feel like being vocal has its benefits (you can locate other rpers that are interested and you’re not wasting time with other rpers) 

It might seem like you’re closed off to other rpers? Which....idk that’s slightly discouraging with a mutual and I’ll tend to recede. 

Which like...even though I have my biases I’d rather be accessible to people because in the end I’m very much here to explore ryoma’s character. 

Also yelling about ships just makes me concerned the mun might sacrifice characterization for the sake of getting the ship, which I want to give people the benefit of the doubt with, but it’s probably me projecting a concern I have? that im paranoid of skipping to the Good Stuff 

Indie shipping though, i’m learning, is a lot different from the more realtime experiences I’ve had in the past, sometimes ships I have are architectured off of days of framework and once that framework’s there my partner and i just move around wherever within it as we see appropriate. Others might be more freeform?

Either way the shipping doesn’t come first, the interaction ooc or ic does, and. I’m not about shipping first, I want a partner who’s writing i legitimately love :0
