*~flashback~*
Despite being the youngest of the Olympians, Dionysus always had a habit of paternally looking out for his bands of drunken revelers. There were plenty of reasons for this; for one, drinking and drugging were never exactly safe pastimes. Plenty of people have died from drug overdose, from alcohol poisoning, and worse. Not to mention that some of the worst people like to come out at night into the dark and noisy places where their less than savory intentions will be easily overlooked. Ignoring all of these possible hazards would be irresponsible at best.
People could say what they liked about Dionysus, but he had never been inclined towards being irresponsible. Certainly there have been times when his vigilance has faltered, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t at least tried to keep his flock of party rockers somewhat safe. What this meant was that Dionysus was finding himself roaming around raves and nightclubs on the lookout for anyone who looked like their good time was turning into a bad trip some way or another.
It was on one of these rounds that he spied a young woman, not uncommon in Dio’s line of duty. He had seen her before, but she had always seemed to have kept her drunken revelry to a reasonable level. Tonight, however, it was obvious that she was over-indulging and would soon be well on her way to the hospital. This would be one of those perfect times to step in, Dio figured. Making eye contact with the bartender ensured that - as one of Dionysus’s inadvertent agents - he wouldn’t be particularly inclined to fulfill anymore orders that the girl would make tonight.
The god sat down at a bar stool beside her, nearly yelling to be heard over the music. “Having a good time? Hopefully not too much of a good time!” Once more the bartender drifted over and Dio placed an order for two tall glasses of water, one placed before him and the other before the girl beside him. “Look like you could use some water.”
