✎ it’s a relatively normal day, and london thinks nothing of it. it is now officially summer, but not warm enough that she can forego her favourite cardigan, yellow in colour, just like everything else she loves. it’s early morning, but the streets will soon be filled with families of four, couples on a weekend date, runners, joggers, brisk walkers, and coffee addicts ready for their first hit of caffeine for the day.
london settles at a cafe, and finds she’s one of the first customers. it’s almost routine, the way she orders and sits down, notebook already opened, a pen poised in her hand, ready to write about what she observes outside the cafe window. clusters of people will slowly trickle onto the sidewalk, and while she loves the people-watching, this moment of calm is one to savour.
it’s when she’s two-thirds of the way through her cappuccino, a page and a half of her notebook filled with swift scribbles of observations, that london’s day takes a turn for the unexpected. out of the corner of her eye she spots a familiar face, one that stands out amongst the hoard of parents with young children, and the teenagers with intertwined fingers. she’s quick to stand, grabbing her notebook and bag before running out of the cafe, breathless when she comes face-to-face with...
