Some tea about the Lorax movie:
Despite being labeled a "Onceler" fan respecting the actual Onceler character, I honestly feel like the best written character of the 2012 Lorax movie is the Lorax himself???
It's been awhile since I've watched the movie so bear with me BUT I think the 2012 Lorax fits what the Lorax should be compared to 72 'Lax and possibly even the book itself
The 12 'Lax is immediately introduced as a "Take no shit" kind of guy, immediately walking up to the Onceler and going HEY IDIOT, DID YOU DO THIS BULL???
The Lorax continues to show the ~wrath of nature~ and what he can do with the river scene, and I think it's more compelling to see him take action against it than the 72 Lorax being all "please sir no tree choppy :((("
But even with him having more of a backbone in 2012, the 12 Lorax has such sweet scenes, some with the Onceler, that just add to the eventual "Lifted Lorax" scene. Examples include the "tree funeral" done when he's introduced on-screen, and the one where he comforts the Onceler after he admits the thneed isn't selling. It gives off a very father figure sort of vibe that just *fits* with the "guardian of nature" that he's supposed to be, and the latter scene helps develop the friendship between him and the Onceler that add so much to the eventual betrayal in the movie.
So the 2012 Lorax has both the backbone needed to act as a guardian of nature, but also the nurturing side that's associated with being such as Mother Nature.
Not to mention, Danny Devito is PERFECT at executing all of that, and it's a gift that he was casted of all people. His voice has it all, the hilariously gravely "angry and short" voice but also the strong and gravely voice you'd expect by some sort of father figure (even if he also played the bad dad in the Matilda movie qwjfjwjfj) or grandpa
Because of all this, I think the best written character from the Lorax movie truly is the Lorax himself, even if I label myself a "Onceler" fan widbwkfj
