peter was born to meredith dawn quill in delta county, colorado.  raised with the help of his mother’s best friend/neighbour, lisa chang, there was no short supply of love in the quill household. together, they fostered his passion for space and music, lisa being an employee at nasa who promised to pull a few strings once he got old enough. however, selfish as it is, peter still yearned to have a fatherly presence in his life. or, closer to it, he just wanted another parent around. lisa and meredith both worked full-time, and it wasn’t uncommon for lisa to be out-of-state for long stretches of time.  shortly after his tenth birthday, meredith was killed at the hands of badoon invaders, swearing to end the spartax bloodline ( a bloodline which, mind you, peter didn’t even know he belonged to ) for good. a funeral was held at the local church, belongings were collected, and peter lived out the remainder of his pre-teen years at an orphan’s home. where he once asked for a third parent, he now just wanted the one he knew back.

star-lord may have a fairly debaucherous reputation when it comes to his love affairs, however, he has mellowed out slightly in recent times (with age comes wisdom). he is still a bit of a slag, but a very open and generous communicator who will not go through with something casual if that’s not what you’re looking for. peter is fiercely loyal to those he loves, and will do his best to protect you (even if he might go about it unkindly). of course, this often comes with the perceived notion that his partner cannot handle themselves. tension can be caused by him acting brashly or impulsively, and often making decisions on behalf of people. he also struggles to process his own inner feelings - therefore preferring physical acts like gift giving or touch at times where it might be deemed inappropriate.  when pushed, peter turns to his vices or the silent treatment (exchanging judgemental stares).

a study in grief & guilt, killer tunes, bad coping mechanisms, and what it means to find family in a galaxy that is constantly putting you at odds with the people you love. while my peter’s lore is mostly comic-based, i do understand that modern star-lord (2013-present) would not exist without the dreaded mcu. therefore, i have chosen to combine both comic and movie lore to create my own interpretation. pq is a little silly, a little egotistical, and a little crazy - however, he is also a deeply loyal, war-scarred veteran, with high tactical and combat abilities. play that funky music white boy, but don’t forget about the horrors.
