The builder was given an envelope of cash and a suggestion to invest it with the bank for the work he'd completed in Massachusetts two-to-threehundred years ago. By 1959, he was a rich man.

By 1980, he was three times as rich as that. But he was occupied with investigating electronics. He was cautioned against selling his stock purely to purchase more wires.

Within months he'd invented a very efficient way of burning through every penny of his millions. He'd learned enough. He grew frustrated. He put it all away.

He was content enough. He walked with no intention besides becoming what he was again.

He walks all the way down the gravelled path to the Key house. He stops inches from the wall, inspecting it. He scratches his nail into the mortar, powder pouring from the seam like sand.
