» The sense of family within the squad was clearly evident when Pedri was injured in the quarter-final match against Germany. The team took the news as if it had happened to a family member.
After winning that match, all the players were about to have their photo taken in the changing room, euphoric, when Álex Remiro shouted: “Wait!” He ran over to the stretcher where Pedri was resting, away from the camera’s spotlight. Remiro picked Pedri up in his arms and carried him to the front row of the huddle; there they lifted him up, as if he were their child, so that he could appear alongside the twenty-five others in the victory photo. It was a moving moment. « ❤️
