imagine a rift is like a pocket of air when you’re trapped underwater but in the opposite way. a rift is a pocket without air - a short time where human bodies are exposed to the vastness of space. a freezing feeling ; one that makes their bones ache and tears come to their eyes. their skin itches , but just for a moment. their lungs seem to clench but there is nothing to fill them . . . and then there is. the re-entry to an earthen dimension is , quite literally , a breath of fresh air in which a human body immediately takes hold of whatever it can find to begin a quick healing process and get the internal workings turning in the correct order again.
once back on the ground , their legs may tense , cramp , and give out before they can fully function again. spasms in the muscles are prominent and have lasting effects up to three days prior to rift usage. dread , given the circumstance he was built for the exact action of shifting dimensions and being exposed to space , uses rifts as a tactic to delay a human’s reaction time for him to either attack or get away. let’s just say he knows that it causes pain and he never plays fair.
