familiars - @manturneddemon
Fox tilted her head to glance out the large, arched windows of the Jackdaw's grand library. Above the dark shapes of the trees the full moon was at its peak, the old grandfather clock chimed one am. It was time to perform the ritual.
"Please don't be offended Rebel," she spoke to the mouse who sat on a nearby chair, quietly eating the strawberry he had been offered. "Think of it as making a friend?" As Fox smiled, her sharp canines flashed in the candle light. She wanted more friends, she wanted another familiar. Someone darker than sweet Rebel, the Pet Smart bought mouse. If she reached out to the other side, would her devil mother hear her request and offer her a gift in return? An early birthday present?
Before her sat a circle of candles on the polished floor, the pink and white wax dripping onto the corners of the chalk drawn symbol in the center. Luke would be pissed with her, but he wouldn't have to know once she covered up her usual ritual spot with the old Persian rug.
Her pink tail swished behind her as Fox flipped through the old, heavy book in her lap. One hand toyed with the corners of the pages, while the other's fingers absent mindedly pulled at the fishnet stockings hugging her thighs. "Let's see..."
She lit the final candle to begin, whispering the incantation under her breath as she hovered her hand above the chalk drawn symbols. She asked for a friend, one to fill the nights with excitement and magic and as she did she used a small pin to prick her finger; allowing her blood to drip right into the center.
