My august grandfather, Gerbold Octavius Ollivander, always called wands of this wood ‘the survivor’s wand’, because he had sold it to three wizards who subsequently passed through mortal peril unscathed. There is no doubt that this wood, coming as it does from the most resilient of trees, produces wands that demand staying power and strength of purpose in their true owners, and that they are poor tools in the hands of the changeable and indecisive. Fir wands are particularly suited to Transfiguration, and favour owners of focused, strong-minded and, occasionally, intimidating demeanour.

Leda’s parents didn’t much care for their daughter, treating her more like an easy way to fix their financial troubles by getting her to marry rich. She wasn’t expected to excel academically unlike her brothers, nor was she praised if she did. Leda learned at a young age that she would never be able to get their approval and pretty much raised herself.
Older brother: Proteus Gaunt (deceased)
Leda doesn’t remembers next to nothing about Proteus, since she was only a year old when he died. What she has heard, though, is that he was a larger-than-life figure who could do no wrong in the eyes of their parents. She looked up to Ares, who looked up to Proteus, so he had to have been someone incredible.
Older brother: Ares Gaunt
Ares and Leda were close growing up. Leda idolized Ares in the same way that he idolized Proteus, up until he left home after Hogwarts, and didn’t bring then 10-year-old Leda with him. The two reconcile during The Great War, when Leda shows up to help her brother with a group of dark wizards at the front lines.

Leda was a quiet child. She kept to herself and learned from an early age that her parents weren’t going to be there for her.She grew up to be self-sufficient and head-strong. Still, she lead a sheltered life, spending most of her time at home or Hogwarts. She yearned to get out there and see the world and hoped Ares would’ve brought her with him when he left home at seventeen. Leda always had a lot of anger, but nowhere to put it in. Anger about her brothers leaving her, about her parents treating her like air or dirt.
She’s a capable witch but doesn’t know much about the muggle world, which proves to be a problem when she disguises herself as a man to sneak off to the front lines to help Ares with his predicament. She is a quick thinker, though, and learns fast.
