happy ffwf! i've only watched two episodes of bridgerton but i'd still like to know how you became interested in writing about the next generation? for hpma, how do you think nate and nova would be as young parents of their first child?
Bridgerton: Next Gen
So, about a year ago, I decided to take drabble requests for different types of relationships and among those were parent-child relationships. I’d noticed that there weren’t a lot of fics focusing on the Bridgerton siblings and their spouses as parents and the ones that did mostly focused on the same few kids.
Then, at some point, I decided to create spouses for a couple of the Bridgerton siblings’ children. I don’t remember what brought it on, but I think it may have been seeing others making ocs to ship with the Bridgerton siblings and going “no.” I liked the canon, book couples and oc shipping feels odder to me as the Bridgerton books and show are a romance. It was also hoping that it would stop the HP kiddo ideas. (It didn’t.)
After that was creating headcanons for the siblings’ children. That idea snowballed into creating spouses for the children who weren’t already given spouses. The spouses were created with the idea of making them scandalous by not fitting the titled man or title’s daughter, as well as incorporating aspects that I wish to see more in regency romance novels. A lot of the OCs are also influenced by the heroes and heroines of regency romance novels that I’ve read.
One of the biggest reasons that I enjoy writing the next generation is that they’re all pretty much blank slates. There is a little information about some of the next gen given in the books’ second epilogues, but in general, they’re blank slates. Therefore, I can pretty much do what I want with them, like giving them scandalous spouses.
Nate, Nova, and Wyatt
Nate and Nova would be such gentle parents to Wyatt at first. They try to follow all the parenting guidebooks and do everything they could to keep him safe.
Nate would probably be the one to freak out a little when Wyatt gets his first fever. However, Nova freaks out a little when Wyatt gets his first cut. They definitely call their pediatrician a lot, asking questions about all sorts of strange things.
They would dote on Wyatt too. They’d snuggle with him and read to him. They’d just be with their son at certain points in time.
As parents to their first child, Nate and Nova would be trying their best and probably getting stressed about every little thing. By the time Jonah and Zoey are born, they’ve relaxed and aren’t as worried as they were with Wyatt.
happy ffwf! any headcanons about jonah, zoey, and wyatt mackade's sibling dynamic?
If there’s one thing Wyatt takes seriously, it’s being a big brother. He is a big proponent of the idea that he can make fun of Zoey and Jonah, but that no one else can. Although, exceptions are made for their cousins.
For most of their childhood and Hogwarts years, Wyatt gets along best with Jonah. He and Zoey bicker… a lot. However, all three get along a lot better as adults.
If Zoey’s the older twin, then she definitely uses that as an excuse to be protective of Jonah, saying things like “Leave my little brother alone!” Jonah absolutely hates it. If Zoey’s the younger twin, then she does the exact same thing except using “big brother” instead of “little brother.”
Jonah thinks that if she has to be protective, she should use “twin brother.” I could see this being their biggest source of conflict.

About Wyatt:
Oldest of three, Wyatt has a bit of a chronic big brother disease, in which he’s fiercely protective of his siblings but also constantly messes with them and thinks he’s hilarious for it. He seems like he’d never be taking anything seriously but will absolutely drop everything to help those he loves. He’s a bit of a jokester but cares about his family a lot, including all his cousins and other extended family. He loves to goof around and make everyone laugh.
Wyatt’s favourite subject in Hogwarts is Transfiguration, and he shows some talent in it too. He isn’t really interested in extracurricular activities but goes to every single Quidditch match to cheer on his brother Jonah. He likes music and plays the guitar a little though not with any regularity. Where his siblings at least seem to have their hobbies and interests pinned down, Wyatt is still looking for his own thing. Sometimes it makes him feel a little anxious and inferior, though he doesn’t usually voice these feelings.
