oh jeez oh no im thinking about mother days pre underground with chara and asriel and asgore and the three of them trying to make breakfast in bed for tori but it isn’t great???? toriel is really the chef and baker in the family???? but ofc its always taken with heart and im not crying
It’s a big day in Asgore’s book, always has been! Even if they were,,,you know, he’d leave the largest bouquet of golden flowers from his garden at her doorstep. The thank you card next to it was a wholesome: “ I can’t thank you enough for being the best MOM-STER to our family” from,,,once ago.
the flowers left on her doorstep were certainly a surprise. she was not expecting anything from her ex husband especially since they were separated. a soft sigh would leave her, and toriel picks up the bouquet in her hands. she examines the bouquet. beautiful, golden flowers; reminding her of home.
the softest and the tiniest of smiles would reach the corner of her lips as she reads the note. the caretaker would wonder how asgore is doing. she takes the flowers inside, the door closing shut behind her.
perhaps, she would send a pie to him as a thank you soon. but for now, these flowers needed water.
knitting. is. hard...! it felt like they've taken weeks and months trying to get it right, but they make it just in time to present to torie/l... a single sock! the bright purple word around the ankle reads MOM, but they're still kind of upset when they present it to her, their little knitting needles grasped in the other hand.
“did you make this yourself, my child?” a furry paw would take the sock with ease and care. toriel could tell that frisk made this sock with such love and determination. she smiles widely when she sees the word mom on the sock.
toriel sweeps frisk up into a big warm hug, careful of the sock in her hand and gives them a kiss on their forehead. “frisk, my child, thank you! handmade gifts are my favorite, and this sock is beautiful dear one. i shall wear this with pride, knowing my wonderful child made this for me!”
Mom
I would not be alive today if it weren’t for my mom. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for my mom.
I can think of four times in my life where my mom fundamentally altered my life. One time, where she misattributed some odd behavior I was exhibiting to something that personally mattered to her but not to me, and I suffered for it. Two times where she pretty directly saved my life, or intervened on my behalf to ensure that I didn’t suffer pretty greatly. And one time where she did something that in the short term was really hard, but in the long term ensured I recovered enough to be self-sufficient.
My mom loves me more than I think I’ve ever loved anything. We vacation together, go shopping together, and talk shit together. I am very proud of how much she has learned and grown as a person since moving to the west coast, and I think she is proud of me for the man I have become.
So yeah, she’s not perfect. And no, neither was my childhood. But that was largely not her doing, and she worked like hell to ensure I became a happy and healthy adult. I like to think that she succeeded.
