What do you think of this? Reports from both The Telegraph and The New York Post feature Oona Chaplin (Talisa) making claims that an unidentified actress of the series expressed her desire to producers to be spared future nude scenes, saying “I want to be known for my acting, not for my breasts.” Chaplin refused to identify the actress in question, but most have pointed to Emilia Clarke as a likely candidate, given the actress’ multiple nude scenes in the first season.

We’ve discussed this before. There was a rumour it could be Esme Bianco (Ros), since she didn’t have other nude scenes in season 3. And people were thinking because she asked for that, her character got killed off. Also there was another rumour it might refer to Natalie DormerI don’t think Oona was referring to Emilia, since she had another nude scene in season 3, so.

I side-eyed Chaplin for that interview. She used the example of the actress not wanting to take her clothes off for the show anymore, in order to elevate herself and say she doesn’t have a problem with it, and it’s sort of normal to her, or something like that. And then she refused to give a name, getting attention about the interview. She could have easily talked about herself, without using someone else in her interview, especially when she can’t give name, since she’s outing this information, and not the actual actress involved. In my opinion it wasn't her issue to talk about what other actresses want or don't want to do in the show anymore.

As for who it is, I don’t know.

I haven't watched the latest episode yet, but from the bits I saw on tumblr, it wasn't as terrible as everyone in the fandom here thought it would be. Plus, Catelyn got more than one line in the episode, which makes me happy. I think I'll even be able to tolerate the Talisa. What do you think?

Could it have been better? Hell yes. The books had a better impact. 

Was it done well? Hell yes.

Was Talisa bearable? You judge that. I honestly kept on laughing at the actress’ dying and horrified faces. It was just ridiculous, but on top of that, I just continue to side eye Talisa’s presence at the RW. Honestly, there wasn’t a way for them to make happy about that change.

Guesses?

Hi anon. 

Well we discussed this a few days ago. Not the actual guesses of who it was, but the article and Oona’s statements. 

Personally I don’t feel right by doing such guesses when the actual actress in question probably didn’t think this was going to be used by another actress on the show, to talk up her own decisions on nudity and sex scenes. It was pretty crappy from Oona’s side.

And I personally don’t care who the actress is, and if she’s no longer comfortable with nudity, then that’s her decision. And unless she comes out and says it for herself, then I find it pointless, since it could be anyone, even the actresses who are doing sex/nude scenes right now. 

Besides Oona said something like if the nudity is done in a “classy” way, then it is all ok. Haha, so far I can’t really say much of what has been done in the show, has been “classy”.

I like Oona she seems nice and down to earth based on her interviews. She's beautiful but I didnt like that she outed that story about the actress and she's kind of a hypocrite for saying that because her last episode her female body parts (boobs and vag) are conveniently hidden by use of hands and arms and by resting on her front. In conclusion I'm kinda not liking her anymore

I think she could have been honest about her experience with nudity, and the sex scenes, without quoting someone else, and calling for more attention refusing to give the name. If we think about it, that's the only reason why people might talk about the interview. Not many care for her role or her feelings towards one or two nude scenes, when actresses have been doing the same or more for 3 seasons. Chaplin tends to do that in interviews though. She brings out other actors in order to talk up her own role on the show. Which would be fine, but the way she does it, comes off pretty badly.

I think they probably cast her, but never even thought about making her have a read with Madden, to see if the chemistry was there. Major fail in their part, since they were going to approach the relationship as a "love story" to begin with. So, even if the approach was lame, the chemistry would have granted them more approval.

Their scenes are cursed at this point. The writing is shit, the acting is meh-to- just-ok, and the chemistry doesn't work at all. There's no way to fix it, and it could only make it at least a little bit appealing, if something baaaaad happens to both of them. ;)

Which interviews and quotes indicate that the RW will suck? I don't mean to be rude, I just haven't seen or read anything about it other than the quote about how emotional the cast was during a "certain scene". I guess I just have high hopes for that episode. I'm a horrible person for being excited to see the RW onscreen. :p

Of course this is my personal take on the words I’ve read here and there. You can make your own conclusions.

Michelle Fairley talks about her character, and the stuff Cat has done, that has her in a position she regrets and that cost her family a lot. (Here)

Oona Chaplin gives an interview and calls Robb and Talisa “a couple to root for”, “their love is so pure”. And the rest of the stuff she said, which are showing the treatment of Robb and their marriage. (Here). While Robb is consider a nice guy for marrying the girl he loves forgetting his promises and duties, his mother is considered guilty of the situation he’s in, politically and strategically, because she freed Jaime Lannister. (this last sentence is my interpretation). 

Also this post, with screen caps of the trailers, showing Talisa at the RW, which pretty much clashes with the idea of why was it important not to bring the new wife to meet Walder Frey in the first place. So they are not giving Talisa the place Jeyne Westerling took, because there’s no harm in what Robb has done to the Freys, that led to the Freys’ actions. (My simple interpretation). 

Also Bad Ass Digest’s reviews (I don’t normally agree with them), talk about Catelyn’s speech on episode 3 or 4, which pretty much is “character assassination”. (I feel like they aren’t giving Catelyn the place she deserves in the story. And therefore the RW can’t be a good piece of the storyline, if they already sacrificed the main point of view of it)

And there are a couple of quotes in the blog, about Michelle’s take on the “journey” Cat is taking this season.

Hard to explain, but it all adds up. 

I had high hopes for the episode too. But now I can’t bring myself to get excited for it, because I don’t want to be more annoyed about it.

what's your opinion on Oona Chaplin's acting?

Well I don't know her work outside of GOT. Someone mentioned here she was in Quantum of Solace, but I don't even remember her.

I'm going to try to be fair here, and make a sharp difference between character and actress:

She's just a weary character. There's nothing special about her. And she's the definition of what the writers consider a STRONG WOMAN. The changes were simply not needed in this case. They could have kept the original Jeyne Westerling, and the original story without the need to go over budget, and casting the same actress.

The actress is a miscast on the role as it is. She doesn't have chemistry with her costar, and that's probably the most stupid mistake they made when casting an actress who is supposed to be the reason why Robb Stark forsakes his fate (tv-show).

Basically I do this, because I want to make clear that the writers' choices, are not to be blamed on her. She hasn't demonstrated to be a lousy performer, but at the same time she hasn't shown the contrary.

Nevertheless, I think she's a miscast. Because if the chemistry doesn't work, then I don't know what the purpose of her character is. Basically she was added to the show to be reduced as Robb's love interest, and since there isn't any chemistry, I can't figure out why they chose her, and not someone else. Madden was already playing Robb, so the newcomer needed to adapt to him, and work (together) to get the chemistry going. Also she herself, doesn't seem to be situated in the story. Is almost like she hasn't submerged herself into the performance.

I think she had better chances to fit the role, if they had kept the original story for her character.

Bluntly, there's no chance her storyline will get better. Read some theories for the upcoming season, and it looks worst than I thought. So hm, I doubt we'll get the chance to see her under a better light.

What do you think about Oon Chaplin as Jeyne?

Oona is not playing Jeyne, I think I read an article that said the character's name was changed, and the character itself was changed I think. So I can't really say much about it, and I haven't seen her in any movie/ tv show, so I don't know her work.
