Oh, I'm so sorry, I see you've already answered a question about Dinklage's acting in the trailer I should have scrolled down but I was so shocked that I had to get my opinion out immediately.
No problem! (:

I have to say that, even though you have talked about it several times, I never noticed anything wrong with Peter Dinklage's accent, probably because English is not my first language and I usually don't notice those things... But then I saw the season 4 trailer and now I understand. At the end he appears talking and his accent is awful, it's so fake it made me cringe, and this is coming from someone who doesn't know a thing about English accents.
Hi!
Haha. My first thoughts after watching the trailer were:
I can spot three major bad acting moments there
Good to know Dany is even more war hungry and power hungry than before. /sarcasm
And Peter is not even trying anymore. Not trying with his accent, not trying with his acting.
So, lol, yes I totally cringed too. Thanks!
Are you prejudiced when it comes down to accents? You see, I'm Dutch, and as such I'm not as familiar with English accents (not that I know where you're from), and as such Peter's accent doesn't bother me that much because I can't really determine what it's /supposed/ to sound like. Now on the other hand, Carice's accent does bother me a great deal because it's so easy to hear where she's originally from and rather than coming across as 'exotic, foreign' like (1/2)
(2/2) like Melissandre is supposed to, I have to cringe at every word she says. Anyhow, back to my question. Do you think you’re more easily annoyed by accents coming from your mother country or doesn’t it matter to you?
HI!
I don’t think is a prejudice, and it isn’t that it annoys me. I think I’ve said before that when the accent is not distracting, it just doesn’t bother me. In Dinklage’s case it is distracting, and it is messy. Same in the case of Aidan Gillen. In Carice’s case, what bothers me is not her accent specifically, it is the way that her tone and line delivering are awkward because of the way she over-pronounces words. I don’t know really how to explain it. It’s like she’s speaking a language she doesn’t understand (I know, I know, give me a sec), simply by repeating lines she doesn’t get, and in that way she doesn’t know where and when to breathe, where to stop, where should the line have its accentuation or a higher tone (Very similar to what I feel about Clarke’s line delivering, but in her case, it’s not so much excused since her mother language is english, so). And the weird thing is that, I’ve seen Carice in other things, and her line delivering is not a problem, neither is her accent more specifically. I do agree her way of speaking is cringe-worthy, but like I said in the voting post, her problems are not really much about accent as they are about line delivering, imo.
I see where you're coming from with Peter Dinklage. I'm fine with it tbh but I see why it's not great. What would you say is up with Aiden? He seems to be fairly constant with his, unless you object to the accent to start off with.
The thing with Aidan is that his own accent it’s really strong and he started in the show trying to cover it, and it kinda work, but now is like he can’t cover it. He’s not doing an accent, he’s just merely trying to cover his own. While Peter tries to make an accent, but that doesn’t work and his own accent comes out, Aidan simply tries to cover his Irish accent. The thing is, that by doing that, it ends up in such mess. Like an Irish-english accent. It’s a merge between the two, to a point in which is not one or the other. And no, I don’t simply object his accent on itself. But the thing is, the role requires a certain accent, so his own accent would be an issue on itself if we look at it that way. Same with Dinklage. I would have to say him doing an american accent in a role that requires an english accent, it is a problem. And finally Carice’s works because she’s supposed to be a foreigner, but it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t present a problem with her line delivering and her tone. Because it actually does. I don’t think I’m the only one who noticed her improvement when she had to speak in valyrian. Apparently the language makes a lot of actors better.
Thanks!

I agree. I do too, but somehow it doesn't come across well when he uses it.

My feelings exactly.
Actually, when watching interviews, it seemed so much like Dinklage was kind of an asshole, it was incredible.
Hi anon. I think he’s sarcastic and has a very particular humour. And sometimes that doesn’t come across well (?). But he did answer a couple of things I read here and there with a certain tone that I didn’t like.
Hi there. Do you think Peter Dinklage is a bad actor or just over hyped or a combination of both? Thanks have a good day
Hi anon.
No, I don’t think he’s bad actor. In fact, around season 1 he was one of my favourites. I just think he stopped trying. It’s almost like he doesn’t care anymore, and I feel he’s putting no effort on it. The hype over his performance was deserved back in season 1, but it’s not now. Not only he’s overrated, but he doesn’t deserve any praise as it is. As Tyrion he can give a decent performance at times, and others is just sub-par, not credible, and forced. I think one part of Tyrion he can manage with ease, because it resembles his own personality, but the other part he has issues with, and given the progress of the story, it’s what is required at the moment. In general the magic his portrayal had is lost, and he can barely recapture those moments now.
Thanks!
I personally don't think Fairley deserves Emmy, but I get why are people agry because she was great in episode 9. (btw. i don't think Clarke deserves it either). But I don't get why people want Emmy for Coster-Waldau. He's definitely the worst actor in the show so I dont understand why is everyone so crazy about his performance???
Hi anon.
I definitely think many people feel like the show doesn't deserve much recognition from an acting point of view, and to some extent and in some cases I agree. And like I said before, I'm not totally convinced with NCW's acting. He was quite weak for two seasons, and in the third one he was just ok. He did improve and had one great episode with a good performance, but for the rest he didn't hit the high mark to deserve the nomination. However, if you have read my comments regarding the noms, it's probably clear that I'm baffled at the nomination of Dinklage over Coster-Waldau. And that's because neither of them had outstanding performances to merit the nom, but in comparison, NCW stood out more than Dinkalge, and tried something different, polishing some of the issues his performance had in previous seasons. Dinklage only seemed to get worse. I don't get the hype for his acting either, surely it doesn't seem to come from his performance on the show. "Most improved" is not an eligible category, so I don't see the point of a nom for his overall performance. That being said, I have to strongly disagree with you on the "worst actor in the show". If I had to catalog his performance I would say it is average-to-(sometimes)good. And there are many actors in the show that are far worse than that, and are even below the mediocre line. To name a few: Simon (Lancel), Harington, Skrein (Daario).
Thanks! Really sorry for the very late reply.
