What's your opinion on them making Ramsey more a charming pyscho as opposed to a straight up pyscho in the book? Personally, I think it's more believable and may deliver the same punch of shock for viewers but distills the character who was just pure hatred and evil
Hi anon.
I liked the Ramsay scenes this past episode, but honestly I could care less about his daddy issues and making him more “approachable”. Personally I think the one and only reason the show is willing to explore more with the character is because there’s potential for more shock value, unnecessary sex-violence and nudity.
Thanks!
Is there any ship that you don't like (or hate?) I don't like the way the fandom romantize or make "funny" the Ramsay/Theon relationship... sometimes i think is because they are two men and all the abuse is "hot".. I mean for sure nobody ships Jeyne with Ramsay (i think) I just hate this pairing so much lol I like Theon and everytime I go to his tag I find something of this ship and it just irks me so bad.
Hi anon.
I’m not much of a shipper. I’m more like let it ship. But some ships do gross me out: DrogoxDany (she was 13 when she was forced to marry him, he raped her repeatedly, she has Stockholm Syndrome); any incest shipping that it’s not JaimexCersei (I think JaimexCersei is fine, I don’t love it or hate it, it’s just that it’s canon. They are fine, but shipping other siblings is not of my liking); and JonxDany kinda make me sick (if he’s a Targ, then she’s his aunt. I know that’s ok for Targs, but ummm).
Some others don't gross me out or bother me, it's just that I don't get it , like Sansa and pretty much everyone who she's shipped with (I'm ok with Wyllas though), and Ramsay/Theon it's also kinda weird to me (I mean he tortures the hell out of him, I just don't get how can shipping can grow from it).
And finally I only ship for funny purposes, never seriously. ;)
Thanks!
lavender-and-creme replied to your post: I think what makes Iwan good as Ramsay is that he plays him kinda like Andrew Scott did Moriarty in Sherlock BBC. All crazy-eyed and unhinged, it can be quite good at times, and an empty yet pretty shell at others, for Iwan.
I think Iwan was actually more offputting as Simon than as Ramsay. The writing did mess up his character, but at the same time even when Iwan tried looking intimidating it just didn’t feel like enough.
Agreed and
"at the same time even when Iwan tried looking intimidating it just didn’t feel like enough"
EXACTLY!

Hi anon.
I don’t mind Iwan as Ramsay, but he’s not what I pictured, you know?
I think 50% of my comments regarding his portrayal have to do with the construction of the character. The writing hasn’t paid respect to the source, so it’s slightly a different character. More cardboard cut out than his book counterpart (not his fault clearly). And the other 50% has to do with his acting. I don’t think he’s bad, I think he was ok, but in general he doesn’t inspire fear and creepiness, like book Ramsay did (it’s an image-look thing matched with body language. Not his fault he doesn’t have it). There's still something meh about his portrayal, that has to do with nothing else but his acting. Still is early to give a definitive opinion on it, because most of the Ramsay-Theon storyline happens later on. I just hope they don’t over do it, because at the end of season 3 it felt that way.
And I like Iwan. He was good in Misfits. And I definitely think why they cast him, and why they think he has the elements to portray Ramsay.
Will trust your word on the Moriarty comparison.
Thanks!
lavender-and-creme said: Did we ever learn Ramsay’s age? For all we know he’s older than Theon. Either way Burn has a more appropriate presence for the role I think.
I don't know, can't remember if there's actually something in the description about his age. I assumed older than Theon for sure, in his mid twenties. But before casting I was thinking of someone older than that, like 30. Either way, Burn (almost 40) is old for the role. In some close ups I saw of him he has visible wrinkles, which would make difficult to believe he's show!Roose's son.
I agree with your last sentence. He looks like Ramsay, or what I pictured Ramsay to look like. I didn't know the actor before the show, otherwise I would have fan cast him. haha
Iwan was fine, and kinda flat sometimes this season. Nothing against him, but I do not get Ramsay's vibes from him. Not yet anyway.
Slight query about the TV Theon story-line. Looking back, were the people originally torturing him in the first few episodes Dreadfort men? Because although their armour somewhat looked like Iron Born kit I assumed it wouldn't be them (as it would be nonsense). But in that case, if they were Dreadfort, why did they not react to Ramsay (their lord's natural born son) as he swept (common job) around them? The fact then he goes out a murders them is stupidly sadistic, I though he'd like them?
Hey anon.
I think so. I think it was better clarified when Roose explained what happened in Winterfell in episode 10. He sent Ramsay and his men to Winterfell, and the Ironborn turned against Theon to save themselves. But Ramsay “has his own ways” he said.
They were Dreadfort men, and were doing what their Lord wanted, but Ramsay was just playing, and is even willing to kill his own, in order to have some fun. I think they were playing his game, or going along with his game (with him sweeping and all), and then Ramsay changed his own game, killing them to make it more interesting for him, and more believable for Theon. So, he played everybody. And the stupidly sadistic attitudes, are not something rare to Ramsay, so.
Now that I think about it, I didn’t even realize their armors were Ironborn looking (perhaps another trick from Ramsay?). I thought I saw a Bolton sigil somewhere. Don't have the episodes here or I would check.
Sorry for the delay.
What did you think of Iwan Rheon's reveal as, well, Ramsay, though they don't name him as such? I thought he overacted a little, looked excessively crazy there.
Hi anon.
Well, I didn’t think so. I guess I’m used to seeing his crazy face, cause that’s the one he used for Misfits. That’s how I assumed he was going to play him anyway. But I understand if it’s not pleasing everybody. Maybe it’s a “too literal” interpretation for you?
It’s more a sadistic face, than a crazy face.
You know what the funniest thing here? That I thought the guy starting the fight with Craster, would have been perfect for Ramsay. His voice was creepy and his looks fit what I imagined him to be like. However I’m willing to see what is Rheon going to do with his character. After all he can play crazy guys.
thanks.
