ANIMANGACREATORS MEMBER RECOMMENDATION EIGHT: 86: EIGHTY SIX
for this month’s amc member recommendation, we have the anime 86: eighty six, recommended by senka @masterqifrey!
the republic of san magnolia claims to wage war using unmanned machines, but the truth is far darker: these machines are piloted by the eighty-six, people stripped of their humanity and treated as disposable tools. 86: eighty six follows shin, the captain of spearhead squadron, as he leads his unit through relentless battles against the empire of giad’s legion. what begins as a bleak military conflict unfolds into a powerful story about finding hope in a world determined to deny it.

why should members check this recommendation out?
if you like angst and mecha with a good plot, pacing, lovable characters, great storytelling and animation, this one's for you! part 1 was great. part 2 was beautiful. i highly rec 86: eighty-six. actually even if you're not into mecha i'd still recommend this one lol. i'd say it's a must watch if you wanna get into mecha anime alongside gundam. it has some cgi mixed in but thats understandable for mecha anime, plus it's actually pretty good. anyway the storytelling was amazing all throughout, especially in the last episode!! it honestly blew my mind. i rewatch it once in a while and i never get tired of it.

ANIMANGACREATORS MEMBER RECOMMENDATION SIX: AKANE-BANASHI
for this month’s amc member recommendation, we have the manga akane-banashi, recommended by jenny @mudanonaito!
akane-banashi follows akane, a young girl captivated by rakugo: a traditional form of storytelling performed using only voice, expression, and gesture. inspired by her father’s dedication to the craft, she steps into the competitive world of performers, determined to carve out a place of her own.

why should members check this recommendation out?
Akane-banashi is a refreshing story and a little different from the typical shounen. The art is beautiful and unique and it's really fun learning about the traditional art of rakugo. The story easily captivates you with the characters and storytelling, which is exactly what rakugo does too!! Also, the anime is coming in April, so make sure to also watch it!!!
ANIMANGACREATORS MEMBER RECOMMENDATION SEVEN: DOROHEDORO
for this month’s amc member recommendation, we have the manga dorohedoro, recommended by sin @mx-sinisters!
set in the grim, lawless city known as hole, dorohedoro follows kaiman, a man with a reptile head and no memory of his past. alongside his friend nikaido, he hunts down magic users in hopes of finding the sorcerer responsible for his transformation.
read on to see why sin recommends this chaotic manga for fellow amc members to check out!
why should members check this recommendation out?
the world dorohedoro crafts is so unique. the mystery of uncovering kaiman's identity is compelling enough but you also read on to learn more about hole, all the chaotic characters that reside there, and the magic system that rules everything. the tone of this manga is also weird. like one moment you're laughing at a stupid baseball match and the next people are getting slaughtered in the streets. it's enough to give you whiplash in a good way (?) i also have to highlight the art style because it's just so badass.
anything else you'd like to share?
season 2 of the dorohedoro anime is airing this season (spring 2026)! go give it (and season 1 ofc) a watch for a fun time!
ANIMANGACREATORS MEMBER RECOMMENDATION FIVE: PHANTOM BUSTERS
for this month’s amc member recommendation, we have the manga phantom busters, recommended by isabella @the-mother-of-lions!
phantom busters follows mogari, eugene, and new recruit kaoru kanzaki as they search for a fourth member to round out their ghost-hunting club. their target: kotaro tamon, a classmate who can communicate with spirits but struggles far more when it comes to talking to the living. as the team navigates supernatural encounters and social anxieties alike, what begins as a quest to recruit a medium becomes a heartfelt (and chaotic) story about friendship, courage, and finding your place...both in this world and the next.

why should members check this recommendation out?
a relatively standard shounen high school shounen manga with supernatural abilities, but its cute and the art is amazing. the main characters are all very uniquely drawn and have great group chemistry. easy to read and suggest to anyone who likes this style of manga!
ANIMANGACREATORS MEMBER RECOMMENDATION ONE: BOKU WA MARI NO NAKA
for this month’s amc member recommendation, we have the manga boku wa mari no naka, recommended by kai @miwtual!
boku wa mari no naka begins with college dropout isao komori waking up one morning in the body of a high school girl named mari yoshizaki. what starts as a familiar body-swap setup soon becomes an existential deconstruction of identity, delving deep into the psychological horror of inhabiting another person’s life.

why should members check this recommendation out?
earlier this year in april, i wanted to consume more media about body horror. while looking for some, i found a video essay on youtube about "transgender body horror", aka the horror of being in a body, and discovered inside mari. i stopped watching that video essay specifically to read the manga so i wouldn't be spoiled, and i literally finished it in 2 days because i was so captivated by it. it's quickly become one of my favorite mangas. it's a little odd and quite intense (especially as the narrative ramps up), but the story is so interesting and as it goes on, it unravels the main character mari and who she is in a unique and cool way. inside mari takes the trope of body swapping and quickly becomes an existential horror nightmare that blew me away upon reading it.
anything else you'd like to share?
i'd like to add some content warnings: inside mari has a lot of depictions and discussions about mental health/illness, sexual assault, parental/familial abuse, and pedophilia throughout the narrative. since inside mari is a horror series, it does NOT shy away from these subjects, and it felt important to mention!
ANIMANGACREATORS MEMBER RECOMMENDATION FOUR: PROMARE
for this month’s amc member recommendation, we have the anime promare, recommended by nikki @missmakaalbarns!
set in a world still scarred by the sudden emergence of flame-wielding mutants known as the burnish, promare follows galo thymos, a hot-blooded member of the firefighting team burning rescue. when a new radical group called the mad burnish rises under the leadership of lio fotia, galo is drawn into a clash that pits justice and rebellion against one another. bursting with style and spectacle, promare delivers an explosive story about belief, identity, and what it truly means to save the world.
read on to see why nikki recommends this insane anime for fellow amc members to check out!
why should members check this recommendation out?
the vibe is fire force meets gurren lagann, which anyone who's seen either means it's completely insane. i watched it because trigger pretty consistently has great visuals but i was genuinely shocked by the world and character building that were able to happen within the 2 hours. the soundtrack is great, while the side characters do suffer for the lack of time the mains are amazing, and their dynamic is everything i want to see.
anything else you'd like to share?
lio fotia was designed in a lab for me (and tumblr as a whole) to love him.
