Oh my gosh I'm actually binge watching this show right now too!
Its like a morbid fascination for me right now. Like I've invested so much time I gotta know who it was but I am not enjoying it. lol
Seriously this was me for seasons 3 & 4. “WELP I’ve come this far, guess I gotta see how this train wreck ends!” I didn’t enjoy my time with the show outside of being exposed to this unique character. Also, sorry for any spoilers :o

Agreed. I binge watched this a few months ago almost entirely to watch Sarah Linden- the actor gave a fascinating, unflinching and unlovable performance.
That’s the thing, there are plenty of female villains who are meant to be unlovable or unlikable, or female background characters who are made unlovable so the audience focuses on the main characters, or they’re used as warnings for the audience that they should be as lovable as possible lest we end up like whichever character - but she is the driving force throughout the series and she is so unlovable and yes! unflinching. She’s never softened, not even with her interactions with her son - strife and conflict follows her around like a shadow. Fascinating is the right word for it.
