plastic hearts || a matt murdock drabble

summary: reader gets matt some new glasses

It’s a silent day at Nelson and Murdock. Matt and Foggy co-working in their conference room as they wait on their lunch delivery and you. It wasn’t uncommon for you to join them around this time. Your usual soft knock at the door signaled Matt’s favourite part of the day. 

But today was different. 

From when you got to the front door, he heard it. Your heart rate picking up, hearing you practically bound the stairs of the building. What could be happening? 

And like clockwork, you enter. Flinging open the door so fast it hits the wall, Foggy jumping back in his seat. 

“Matty! Matty, I have a surprise,” you exclaim, one hand behind your back and excitement radiating off of you. 

“What is it?” 

“Both of you, close your eyes.”

As Matt opens his mouth to make a quip about his lack of sight, you cut him off with a, “And I don’t care if you can’t see, close ‘em.”

His hands are held up in a signal of surrender as he sits back in his chair and closes his eyes. 

You slide into the seat next to him and look at Foggy, “You too, Franklin. Keep ‘em shut until I say so.”

With both of their eyes closed, you grin. What they didn’t know is that the thing behind your back happened to be glasses. 

Heart shaped glasses. 

On the walk from the 1 train to the office you couldn’t help but notice them sitting on the table of a street vendor, red sticking out amongst the typical black and brown. The thought of Matt wearing them was enough for you to slip the man a $5 and walk away without a second thought. 

Placing them in your lap, you take Matt’s typical red glasses off of him. 

“Sweetheart, what’re you doing?”

“I got you something,” you reply, placing the plastic glasses on him, “Okay, both of you can open your eyes.”

Immediately, there’s laughter from Foggy. 

“What, what’s so funny?” Matt asks, brows furrowed. 

“No, it’s not funny—Well it’s a little funny, but it’s cute. It’s cute,” Foggy nods to you, approving your choice. 

“Thank you,” you grin. 

“They got you glasses. Heart shaped glasses.”

“I’m wearing heart shaped glasses?” 

“Yeah, what d’you think?” You ask. And the happiness and excitement in your voice melts away any thoughts about how silly he may look. He’d wear whatever you want if it made you happy. 

“I love them.”

i realized i haven’t posted my updated desk set-up, but here’s my desk-in-bed set-up that typically happens on mondays. my desk riser flips into a bed desk and it fits my keyboard and mouse so i can enjoy the sky and work in bed until i ultimately nap before my 5:30p weekly meeting.

three pm. the color yellow. walks everywhere barefoot. oversized t-shirts. can make anyone laugh. a bit crazy.

five pm. warm smiles. classy. aesthetic instagram feed. anklets. soft music. yoga. face masks.

eight pm.  netflix. cuddles warm sheets. indoors life. loves singing but can’t. sweats. never sleeps.

midnight. driving at night. flirty. neon lights. wears a lot of red. neon lights. big sunglasses. karaoke.

three am. tired eyes. small sketchbooks. pressed flowers. stargazing from the window.  ten am. or midnight--ahh !

Day 8- International Women’s Day! What’s your take on feminism? rly varied and doesn’t look the same for everyone, i think that’s the beauty of it. did a lot of study last sem on gaga feminism and as a gen-zer i’ve recognized that feminism is not one size fits all

Day 9- Write something that you’d like to tell yourself. it is okay to trust people and take compliments, be proud of the work you do.
