His father’s family, come from Syria after converting to Christianity, went on their way without support of Martha, and her family, who originated in France, returned there and quickly married her off to Prince étranger Amou Eyre.
Altair sought nobility after being deemed the bastard of both men, though as a favor to Martha’s family Eyre adopted him as his own son, though kept him out of favor to reduce his chances of gaining title. He found use in being in the military, however, and gained title as Chevalier due to Eyre’s adoption. He ended up taking the name Floyde — his mother’s — and was later entrusted to the English as a mercenary, a sign of goodwill.
After being traded down in service due to his title and exotic origin, he was given to Laura Fitzroy as a guard of sorts, more to appease her in gaining the throne. He entrusted himself to her, but finds himself bored with status, and dreams of traveling to Italy, where his father’s family is rumored to have set up status once more.
