No, It’s extremely different. Though I’m not sure how to specifically describe how it’s different from Logan, I tend to avoid forming an opinion on it depending on mun preferences for Logan. I can describe it as I see it however, though if one of the Logan’s (Or Laura’s & Gabby’s. Even Raze) following me wants to discuss this I’m definitely game.
I see it as Daken being an apex predator (mainly for the fact he sees himself as such), as pheromone control is his second mutation & it differs from Logan’s senses. He’s studied pheromones, read up on human scientists finding of human, insect, animal pheromones. Which makes it easier for manipulation. For a lot of people I can see him writing off a lot of what he smells as useless background noise or something to make note of for manipulation. Unless he cares about the individual, it gets a bit more complicated when that happens. Not really with his sisters, but mainly with Logan or ships. Logan for the sheer fact their father & son relationship is complicated & his healing factor reacts to their conflict and ships for emotional connection.
I’ve always seen Daken’s sense of smell to be sharper, mainly for the fact he’s not just smelling their core scents, he’s also smelling their pheromones, the emotions those pheromones put off. So not only does he smell someone’s natural scent (if you ignore perfume & artificial stuff) their scents can be a bit different to him as he’ll smell other things about them.
Which, a comic when Daken lost his memories, made me wonder a few things, like did he experiment? push one reaction in people just to see what would happen & learn what he’s smelling. He’s studied pheromones so if you take that all away does he not know? Ms Sinister & Shaw basically had him there while lying to him, it was obviously a lie but he only requested when they could give him his memory back. Course Ms. Sinister seemed to just find the whole ordeal hilarious, either being that powerful of a telepath that she didn’t care how she came across when she tries to put memories into someone or she just was a really bad one? (which could also just be something not pretaining to the character herself)
Sometimes I will check about an intention, depending because i’ll hold back my muse because knowing will seem too easy and I’ll ask my partner before writing my reply. I donno if that helps? Hope I didn’t misunderstand, my focus is a bit loopy & I’m forgetting things because i’m sick.
