sry this is late i haven’t been on tumblr in so long and just saw everyone talking ab it 😭 but to add onto the last australian anon ,, idk if it’s different for diff states or just diff schools ?? but we had diff events for the year 10 11 and 12s,, like in yr 10 it’s smth slightly fancy just as like ? a treat ig ? and as u get to yr 11 it gets more fancy and then by yr 12 we have the ball which is where everyone gets dates and has their makeup and hair done professionally and whatever. and then only for the ball some kids will hold an afterparty at someone’s house or some warehouse or smth where everyone gets drunk n what not HAHAH like in yr 10 we had a yacht party and then yr 11 we went to some like fancy venue for a dinner. and then for the yr 12 ball most schools will rent out a hotel event room or smth to hold it in HAHAH

our debs is only for one year (the 6th years) and it's normally in a hotel function room? because that's the only way they can have alcohol on the premises (bc alcohol isn't allowed on school campuses here)

in scotland we have a thing called the senior ball which happens once a year. the two oldest years get to go, we don’t really bring dates or stuff like that. and the school rents out a venue and we get a fancy meal and champagne, after we just dance or sit at our tables and chat, we don’t have stuff like prom king/queen. then there’s usually an “after party” but it’s just everyone getting drunk in fields.

mm i think the getting drunk in fields is a traditional across All Countries which is excellent news

i never understood the necessity of bringing dates to places like ?? u can have just as much fun with a group of friends than a random person u felt like u had to take

obviously, if ur dating them - different story but for a lot of people i know, u end up going as a "date" with one of ur friends anyway so

In Canada, where I am, we have "Grad" so it's just for Grade 12s when they graduate. We have our graduation ceremony on a Sat morning, which is actually like three weeks before we're actually done school. Then that night we get dressed up in big dresses and suits and stuff and we had "Grad March" where we literally walk around in our hometown stadium and show off our outfits to people/our families. Then there's a dance and our year we had superlative awards and a dinner. You can bring a date to the dinner. Thank God I didn't end up marrying the boy I went with when I was 18, cause the pictures make me cringe (I can tell you that story another time if you're interested).

That night the school hosted a "Dry Grad" (no alcohol) party, which we bought tickets for, at the university and we played games, had bouncy houses, and ate food until like 4am. There was also a "Safe Grad" (with alcohol, organized by someone idk I don't drink so idk) where kids are literally getting drunk in a field somewhere.

Also, the whole week leading up to grad we had parties each night, so I had friends who were drunk/hung over the whole week while going to school. I had a friend who brought vodka in their water bottle because staying drunk was easier than the hangover. The parties have themes like "G.I. Joes and Army Hoes", or "ABC" (anything but clothes). This is only a thing in the small region where I am though.

Now that I'm typing it I'm realizing how weird it is...

stop that sounds so cool though !! there's so much going on it sounds so interesting !

the whole getting drunk in a field is,,, very much what happens either side of our debs here - except we make it Sophisticated because we put up marque tents. bc marque tents make everything more fancy

alajshf where i’m from, we have prom in 10th and 11th grade! i only went during my 10th grade one, and it was pretty fun i went without a date bc im lonely aksjdhf but i was with my friends so it was a whole lot more exciting! our batchmates went to a bar after but my friends and i went to starbucks then to our hotel room to watch vines until like five in the morning 🤧

*sighs* what are the grades. i don't - is 11th grade senior year?

do u have to bring a date tho? for the debs a lot of the time we just go in groups of girls n stuff, and then pair off w a group of lads for pictures and then split again sjfjsjd

High school prom is just a dance, the qay i can explain it is, well for my school only seniors go, for queen and king they do vote for the candidates now that im not sure how those are picked. Then if its crappy or not it depends on the school and people.....from what i know i forgot other questions you asked
