i was informed by my lichen professor that there was a very special lad of whom i am well acquainted blooming in the bio department greenhouse rn and of course i had to pay her a visit.....im so proud
(species: Amorphophallus konjac (’voodoo lily’), a somewhat economically important corpse flower native to indochina. fans of the Amorphophallus genus and those acquainted with their greatest hits will remember a very unique cousin, Amorphophallus titanum, which is native to sumatra and produces the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world!)
#yes she is stinky#for those unfamiliar with corpse flowers theyre called that bc they smell like rotting flesh and are pollinated by flies#therefore mimicking a dying animal on the jungle floor#'corpse flower' is actually an unbrella term for a lot of plant species with those characteristics#*umbrella#amorphophallus
