It probably doesn't make up for the A.Z writers not having a scene where Asseylum visited Slaine in prison, but maybe she hasn't visited him simply because she can't bring herself to. She may not have been the one to put him in jail (that was Inaho, IIRC), but she was the one who publicly made him a political scapegoat. She's probably feeling massive amounts of guilt and self-hatred and thinking, "If I hate myself this much, how much more must Slaine hate me?" She doesn't want to go there only

to discover that Slaine really does despise her, not realizing that there’s nothing she could do that would ever make him stop loving her.
