Heads Up 7-Up Tag Game

Tagged by the excellent @vcaudley Rules: Post seven sentences from your latest WIP and then tag (up to) seven people to do the same. ...Turns out my lastest WIP is almost entirely smut. But I managed to comb through it and find seven sentences bunched together with no smut in them lmao --- “You saw Aphrodite?” This time, it’s Megaera who speaks up. Hypnos isn’t sure when she appeared, but the sight of her standing there, raising an eyebrow at him, makes Hypnos feel hotter than he already is. It’s a good thing for Hypnos that Zagreus is a lot more casual, patting the empty chair next to them. “Hey Meg, do you want to join us? Hypnos was just telling me about what he got up to during the feast.” “Didn’t Hypnos sleep through the feast?” Meg chuckles, though she does take the seat offered to join them. “Well… most of it,” Hypnos admits, “Almost all of it.” --- I tag @101flavoursofweird @pandirpus @krokonoko @sweveris and anyone else who has a current WIP and wants to do this

'zagreus learns how to degrade hypnos' plz!!!

This is a zine fic, so I can't post full snippets publicly yet, but it has been my go-to for finding the weekly word on wipfic's wednesday word game over on twitter, simply by virtue of being the longest stand-alone WIP in my folder lol ANYWAY, the premise is that Hypnos wants to be degraded by Zagreus, but Zagreus is just too damn nice and struggles to degrade Hypnos while also feeling like he's respecting him. They accidentally end up airing this laundry during one of Zagreus's matches against Theseus, who's very good at yelling and being disrespectful to everyone. Theseus ends up weirdly understanding the assignment a lot better than Zagreus does lol Zagreus gets there in the end tho

Zagreus ignores him. “Right, so I have a lot of questions about all this art of yours. Like, what’s going on in this one here? You look like you’re quite enjoying yourself, unless I’m reading it wrong.” He points up to the painting showing Theseus battling the smoky creature. The reply he gets is a rather-telling splutter from Theseus, “You most definitely are reading it wrong, blackguard! For your information, I fought so many beasts in life that there are too many tales to be told, even by the most devoted of bards! This particular piece shows a shapeshifter who was… rather persistent, but a battle is all that occurs!”

“Never said it was anything else,” Zagreus snickers, enjoying this, “And this particular victory just happens to be the one you chose to display outside of your bathroom?” “I have many bathrooms in this palace, so your accusation means naught! All there is to say is that I like to remember my own accomplishments!”

Zagreus waggles his eyebrows. “...Got any painting of our fights, then?” It’s not a blow to Zagreus’s pride to admit that Theseus has bested him in combat many times. Even if it was, it’d be worth it to see the blush colouring all the way down Theseus’s neck. “I can j-just see the real thing whenever I like! On top of that, your impatience would see to it that you never stand still long enough for any artist to reference you!”

The Minotaur has fallen for the King of Athens? Well, this certainly isn't the news that Achilles expected to hear. Yet he hides his surprise as he replies.

“It is unfortunate to learn of this now of all times, lad, but I fear that it is too late. Their situation was already hopeless to begin with, what with one honoured in Elysium, while the other is stuck here in Tartarus...” A situation that Achilles knows all too well. “...But now that Theseus has attracted the ire of your father, I fear that this might spell the end for him.”

Zagreus shakes his head. “No. With all due respects, sir, I cannot accept this. There must be a way to change fate so that they can be together.”

“The contracts are eternally binding, lad.”

“What about Orpheus? When he became too depressed to play, didn't Mother see to it that his contract was changed so that he could see his muse?”

“That was different. Your mother has a certain way of convincing your father.”

“And you're saying that I don't? No, don't bother answering that one, I already know the answer. But even if I can't convince him, there must be some way that I can have their contracts changed. Asterius's contract already has been changed before!”

To no one's surprise, the attempt to rile Theseus works. The king grips his own spear; the only thing stopping him from taking a slice at Momus this very instant is Asterius's firm hand on his shoulder.

“Do not speak of Asterius in such a manner! The Bull of Minos is but a legend in himself and that is why gods and mortals alike rightfully tell tales of our battle.”

Momus regards Theseus through lidded eyes; “...Yeah? But what else you done, king? Got a few beasts in your closet, besides just this one?”

If Zagreus expects Theseus to scream out a retort to this (and Zagreus absolutely expects Theseus to do this), he is mistaken. Something about Momus's words seem to silence the king, at least for a moment. This gives Momus enough time to turn away from Theseus, as if he's not worth his time, returning his attention to Zagreus.

(i still had this one from last time the meme was going around and now i actually have wips again!!) “He cannot fathom how someone could stay here for even a few minutes, let alone the entirety of their afterlife, without becoming bored out of their mind, even if it would be rude for him to say this to the face of someone who's clearly content with their lot.“

Zagreus prepares to hurry on out with the rest of them, but he feels a bronzed hand wrap around his arm, as Theseus stops him from getting too far away.
