ao3 works tag
i got tagged by @eristastic! this is out of 231 works, and keeping in mind that sometimes ao3′s numbers are a little inaccurate.
Go to your Works page, expand all the filters, and let us know the following:
1. What are your 1st and 2nd most common ratings? Any surprises?
teen and up (116), g (69), and not really!
2. What’s your most common warning? Least common? Do you consider yourself an adventurous writer?
most common: no archive warnings apply (162), least common: rape/noncon (7).
i feel like the question of "adventurous” under warnings is kinda disingenuous as the ao3 archive warnings are warnings because they’re... all prevalent in fanwork to some extent? and whether or not your writing needs warnings doesn’t necessarily mean you’re pushing yourself. i know a lot of people whose comfort zone is writing whump or nsfw and who are happy producing that kind of content and don’t have any interest in writing anything different. what “adventurous” implies here is those folks’ favorite stomping grounds, and also that they churn out similar content doesn’t signify anything as to the emotional depth of their work.
basically first give me a solid definition of adventurous and then i can answer your question. do i write material that i hope is emotionally/mentally challenging? yes. do i write plots that hopefully connect to the growth of my writing skills? yes again. do i write from different character povs, need to include a lot of extra warnings, and do ambitious projects? yes. but do i also like to do a lot of codependent garbage and mostly write my favorite/characters? yes?? so???? ?? ? ? ?
3. How many works have you done in each relationship category? Is this more accidental or do you have preferences?
gen (97), f/m (57), m/m (49), f/f (44), other (34)
if i’m producing a lot of content for one fandom, it’ll mostly be for my favorite ships; for dept heaven that meant a lot of gulcasa/nessiah (m/m) and yggdra/roswell (m/f), and for undertale that’s a lot of charasriel and frischarasriel (both ships with nonbinary characters).
my driveby fics for other fandoms, and work for fandoms i come back to multiple times but don’t have an otp for (i.g. homestuck, madoka) tend to be largely gen or f/f.
4. What are your top 4 fandoms by numbers? Are you still active in all of them or do you tend to migrate a lot?
undertale (53), yggdra union (52), blaze union (38), knights in the nightmare (19). it would probably be very different if you counted all dept heaven fics under one category - i think the next 2 highest fandoms are homestuck (15) and madoka (11).
i tend to have one major fandom at a time and not change major fandoms for years.
5. What are your top 4 character tags? Does this match how you feel about the characters or are you puzzled?
gulcasa (58), nessiah (55), chara (48), yggdra (32)
nah i think this accurately reflects my favorite union series and undertale characters lmao. eventually undertale will probably overtake these tags and that’s a weird emotion.
6. What are your top 2 most used additional tags, and your bottom 2? What would happen if you combined all 4 into a fic?
this is just out of the tags that show up in the field, yes? in that case:
post-canon (38), spoilers (36), implied/referenced child abuse (9), queerplatonic relationships (8)
isnt this like a significant amount of my pale frischara postcanon content lol
7. How many WIPs do you currently have on ao3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?
there are some still-unfinished dept heaven wips on there. i’d like to at least finish the romeo and cinderella ‘verse since lost and found was supposed to be the last fic, but the rest probably aren’t going to get finished. blame undertale.
the last ycouyo fic is still a wip. i’m working on chapter 6. i’m not going to start any other multichapter works in undertale until ycouyo is done. (i will probably write oneshots and maybe the next undergems in between working on chapters of that so that i don’t get too enmired.)
8. Tag 5 people!
uhhh how about... @ayu-ohseki, @lightrises... and whoever else wants to do this idk
