Mr oak what’s your favorite rock type/plant?
Hi! I’d love to talk about my favourite rocks and plants, but gosh it’s hard to choose just one. It’s a fantastic coincidence that I saw this ask just as I was out for a walk, so I’ve been pondering this answer while walking.
I think some of my all time favourite rocks have to be opals and amethysts, or maybe even obsidian or bloodstone. But I think my favourite piece has to be this Quartz piece we’ve got on our bookshelf
I love the way the rock opens up to reveal the crystals inside, it’s like a discovery and each half has such a gorgeous shape to the formations inside. It really glitters in the light! Quartzes are also fantastic for their diversity and ease of finding (if you live near any pebble beaches, go for a wander and explore! I found a few pieces just this morning while walking with the dogs)
Also I think I have to give an honourable mention to volcanic rock, because I love the way you can see it’s journey through the earth through the different tones and chunks that have solidified together over millennia. I found a small chunk that had broken off to take home!
When it comes to plants, I think it varies so much depending on the season. Of course, I have to credit the mighty Oak! But I also have a love of wild flowers, like forget-me-nots, or cut flowers like sweet peas. Other than the oak, I’d have to say that my favourite trees are birch and rowan; the birch for it’s gorgeous silver bark, and the rowan for it’s beautiful berries and folklore associations.
Thank you so much for asking! I hope you’re having a wonderful day/night
