just a heads up trans people exist everywhere (even in non-western societies! wow who would have thunk) the reason trans ppl exist is not the immersion of social media/western liberalism but besides the point societies that are homophobic, violently so, are going to be inherently transphobic. as the institutions of power stand to a very set basis of sex based norms- meaning men like women and have male antaomy. every deviation from this basis is subject to brutualization. trans people have always stood at a high risk from dictatorial regimes. whenever there are homophobic nations, there is also rampant transphobia. the two are intertwined.
