the damn books arent even out yet and every time i see moonpaw, knowing now who her canon parents are, i just get more and more confused. why isn't she a nightsun kid? genuinely why?
we know warrior cats. we know that if they have the chance, they're going to make the protagonists become mates and have kits. that's something they've done since arc 2. not to mention that this arc, for 2 of the 3 protagonists, has been adjusting to and accepting the new rule of allowing cats to be mates with ones from other clans. they had the perfect opportunity to make moonpaw a nightsun kid, not only to fill the (honestly unfortunate) quota of "protagonists must get together at the end" and "she-cat protagonist must end with mate and kits", but also for her to be the first kit born after the new rule. the first half-clan kit to not be discriminated against for her bloodline.
but. instead we get... bayshine, who is to my knowledge a complete nobody, and... thriftear. also a complete nobody. not to mention they're cousins in at least 3 different ways. this arc we're on right now is almost over, too, and i know neither of them are relatively close with nightheart (or sunbeam, really) but we haven't even seen an OUNCE of character, romance, or even friendship between bayshine and thriftear. have they even interacted??? i know bayshine and nightheart have but have there ever been any background scenes of bayshine and thriftear together? sharing tongues, sharing a meal, even looking at each other with affection in their eyes, anyone commenting on them and being like "oh wow thriftear seems to really like bayshine!"? anything?
its just so confusing to me. i really, really don't get it. i mean say what you will about nightsun, i know some are happy she's not their kid, but her not being their kid is so so so confusing to me. i mean good on them for shaking things up a little but even still. very strange choice
