saw someone say they're glad moonpaw isn't a nightsun kid, and someone else say they were happy that bay and thrift were moonpaw's parents because "it means there's no more inbreeding". just gonna put this here

oh my god i forgot . sorrelstripe and fernsong are littermates, making thriftear sorrelshine's niece, then making bayshine her cousin

i think what people don't think about when it comes to whether moonpaw is a real chimera or not is

no of course not all cats with a split face are chimeras, regular torties can also have the split face marking (this applies to heterochromia too, not all cats with heterochromia are chimeras)

that being said a split face marking in cats CAN be a sign of chimerism. just because its not an exclusive marking doesn't mean it isn't possible at all period

im only saying this because people seem to believe that only one or the other can be true. that all split faced cats are always chimeras, or that split faced cats are never chimeras, when in reality, some chimeras can have a split face, but not all, and some torties can also have a split face. moonpaw CAN be a chimera because chimeras can have split faces. at the same time, not all chimeras have the split face marking, and regular tortoiseshells can also have a split face without being a chimera. make sense? good . stop fighting about it

the damn books arent even out yet and every time i see moonpaw, knowing now who her canon parents are, i just get more and more confused. why isn't she a nightsun kid? genuinely why?

we know warrior cats. we know that if they have the chance, they're going to make the protagonists become mates and have kits. that's something they've done since arc 2. not to mention that this arc, for 2 of the 3 protagonists, has been adjusting to and accepting the new rule of allowing cats to be mates with ones from other clans. they had the perfect opportunity to make moonpaw a nightsun kid, not only to fill the (honestly unfortunate) quota of "protagonists must get together at the end" and "she-cat protagonist must end with mate and kits", but also for her to be the first kit born after the new rule. the first half-clan kit to not be discriminated against for her bloodline.

but. instead we get... bayshine, who is to my knowledge a complete nobody, and... thriftear. also a complete nobody. not to mention they're cousins in at least 3 different ways. this arc we're on right now is almost over, too, and i know neither of them are relatively close with nightheart (or sunbeam, really) but we haven't even seen an OUNCE of character, romance, or even friendship between bayshine and thriftear. have they even interacted??? i know bayshine and nightheart have but have there ever been any background scenes of bayshine and thriftear together? sharing tongues, sharing a meal, even looking at each other with affection in their eyes, anyone commenting on them and being like "oh wow thriftear seems to really like bayshine!"? anything?

its just so confusing to me. i really, really don't get it. i mean say what you will about nightsun, i know some are happy she's not their kid, but her not being their kid is so so so confusing to me. i mean good on them for shaking things up a little but even still. very strange choice

the new warrior cats book still hasn't addressed frostpaw getting neutered last book... im so scared for the nxet book if they havent brought it up yet in this one. is anyone else like afraid. anyone else dreading it

so! with a starless clan finishing up in november and a new arc on the way after that, what are your guys' predictions for the next arc...

for context, and sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but the next arc will Most Likely not be following any relatives or kin of the asc cast (ive seen people suggest one of frostpaw's siblings or splashtail's younger siblings as possible protags)

from an article on the warrior cats website (under the title "GOAL: TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THE NINTH ARC") the authors state that the main character of the ninth arc "will be an old friend whose adventures we’ve been following since the very first WARRIORS arc."

and while that's really all the information we have so far (probably not nearly enough to theorize on, but i dont really care) im just curious to see what ppl think now

especially since theres been an uprising of ppl. well. theorizing what the 9th arc will be and, like i said earlier, questioning what cats from this arc will go on to be protagonists, like frostpaw's siblings or leafkit from windclan or even whistlepaw... i just thoguht id post this to see if anyone's got any ideas or theories or whatever. again theres not much to work on but still! im curious!

there's also another article that states, under the question "Will future books take place in unexplored eras of the series?", "(...)There are still great chunks of time between our DAWN OF THE CLANS prequel/origin series and the beginning of INTO THE WILD that are yet to be explored, and we are certainly excited by the possibility of exploring these times, filling in these gaps. We believe it could be a thrilling new chapter in the WARRIOR CATS mythology. The key consideration for the story team will be the question of whether readers will readily invest in our hypothetical protagonists, being cats to whom they have yet to form an attachment (assuming these stories focus on cats who have never been mentioned before)? [Then again, we had the same concerns about the DAWN OF THE CLANS series!] But as long as the story team remains excited about the possibilities, it will hopefully not be too long before readers get their wish…"

so! pretty good chance the next arc wont be about anyone from asc at all. but honestly i couldnt even tell you who it would be about bc we have no concrete evidence of anything besides where the story takes place...

im really curious to see how the graphic novel is going to handle more violent, brutal scenes like the brightpaw and swiftpaw thing and tigerstar's eventual... gutting. in the graphic novel we see the deaths (or rather the deceased bodies) of redtail, lionheart, and spottedleaf. and we only ever really see them from the back with minimal blood. so im. really curious how theyre going to show the other two since those are very graphic scenes in the books. itd be kind of hard to skirt around it n censor it, especially when both of those events r extremely crucial to the overall arc... although i do get why they don't show full on cat on cat Violence nd death n blood n stuff. these books are for kids. the graphic novel is for kids. plus the graphic novel is a much more different media than text, its a lot more hard hitting when you can actually visually See the violence you're reading about. . . i guess we'll just have to see what happens!
