Hello, a few hours ago I didn't, but now I do!
Here's a little guide to Yuta's storyline/character arc in AEW, divided into three sections: a timeline, match recommendations, and list with links for further reading and viewing.
Reblogs would be appreciated, as well as any additions for things I forgot.
🩸⛓️ Timeline
June 2021: Yuta makes his AEW debut, as part of the Best Friends.
March-April 2022: the BCC is founded by Regal, Mox and Bryan. Yuta is recruited through occult sex rituals. (Not in the video: Yuta writing 'BCC' in blood on his chest.) Yuta also wins the ROH Pure title.
May 2022: Yuta does BOSJ.
June 2022: Claudio joins the BCC.
July 2022: Mox and Yuta fight the Best Friends. Yuta defends the Pure title against Danny for the first time.
September 2022: Danny defeats Yuta for the Pure title. Bryan puts the Pure title against Danny's waist while Yuta sits looking like a sad wet cat in the corner.
September-November 2022: Many more jealousy issues play a part here while Yuta feels like Bryan's choosing Danny over him. Bryan's even mean to him on his birthday!
November-December 2022: Regal betrays Mox to project his daddy issues onto MJF instead. MJF betrays him and hospitalizes him. Regal is never seen in AEW again, so we must assume he has died.
March 2023: Mox has been feuding with Hangman (sexually) and Bryan has been feuding with MJF, both lose at Revolution. BCC turns heel.
March-July 2023: They feud with The Elite. Bryan yells a lot about how he loves his men. During Anarchy In The Arena, YUTA GETS THE PIN ON KENNY OMEGA (thanks to Don Callis, but sssh), and Yutaheads around the world are still riding that high to this day.
June 2023: Bryan slapping Yuta.mp4
July 2023: Blood & Guts happens. Hangman tries to kill Yuta by hanging him. Yuta isn't going to tap out, so Mox taps out for him. The BCC has officially been defeated as The Elite has successfully proven the power of love will be victorious over all.
July 2023-September 2023: the BCC feuds with Best Friends again, leading to Stadium Stampede where Chuck Taylor hits the Awful Waffle on Yuta in front of 80k people at Wembley Stadium. Yuta doesn't eat the pin though. Yutaheads all around my living room are still riding that high to this day.
September 2023: We beat Wheeler every day of the week :) It's not that hard to do :).mp4
November 2023: it's rumoured that Katsuyori Shibata has to return to Japan for visa issues or something similar. Yuta defeats him for the Pure title (by cheating, but still).
January 2024: Yuta gets concussed :(
June 2024: Yuta is back :)
June-July 2024: his first singles match back is against Lee Moriarty, which gives me warm fuzzies (who he's had a history with on the indies). After a short feud he loses the Pure title to Lee.
The rest of the BCC: Claudio has been without his ROH title since September 2023, Mox has been on a side quest to Japan where he held the IWGP World title for a few months, and Bryan has just kinda been fucking around having 'dream matches' against people like Blue Panther, Will Ospreay, and Satnam Singh. (The last one is a dream match because I assume it came to him in a dream.)
August 2024: Bryan challenges Swerve for the AEW World title. Yuta's there by his side in promos, and even challenges Swerve himself to warm him up or something idk. Pac joins the BCC, because the Lucha Bros have suddenly disappeared from AEW television. Pac, Claudio, and Yuta win the Trios title at All In, and Bryan wins the World title. They all come out to the ring to celebrate with Bryan alongside his wife and children. Mox isn't there.
September 2024: Mox is back! He tries to kill Bryan. Pac holds Yuta back as he does it. Claudio is also in on it. Yuta is crying.
September-October 2024: Yuta goes through a depressive spiral. Mox defeats Bryan for the title and locks it in a suitcase for 9 months. He hands the plastic bag to Yuta, who chokes Bryan out with it. Watch the links at the end of the recs list to be explained his motive and his mental state after doing it. (Spoiler: he did it cause Mox is all he's got left while Bryan's retiring, and his mental state since has been a near-suicidal mess.)
November-December 2024: Mox feuds with Orange Cassidy, and uses Yuta as a pawn to taunt OC. OC tells Yuta that Mox doesn't care about him.
March 2025: Mox feuds with Adam Copeland. Cope shakes Yuta's hand and tells him that's what respect feels like.
July 2025: Mox feuds with (and loses the title to) Hangman. Hangman chokes Yuta out with a chain like he did to Mox twice, like he did in Blood & Guts 2023 which lead to Mox tapping out for Yuta. He stops and points out to Yuta that nobody's coming to save him.

@allelitewrestlings on Tumblr - apart from having a very big gif archive they also tag very comprehensively. You can use Tumblr's search function by adding /search/ to the end of the blog url and then whatever you're looking for. For example, adding /search/yt: bte yuta will give you gifs of Yuta on BTE. And the link /tagged/feud%3A dg vs yuta will bring you to gifs of the feud between Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta.
Other blogs whose tags you might want to search through are mine (my tagging will be much less consistent from 2024 onwards), @mjfass, @heeleryuta, @nextstopwonderland, @shes-a-voodoo-child and probably anyone who tags their posts regularly. You can filter Tumblr searches by date with search parameters (e.g. year:2023). Or as long as someone has their blog archive enabled, you can simply visit the blog url and add on /archive/tagged/wheeler%20yuta and filter the date at the top. Tumblr's search function fucking sucks so browsing by archive is more reliable.
