Just because I’m bored, I decided to actually go over the confirmed “kills” that everyone made during the Guns Adventure
And because apparently Caine decided to count this as a kill, so will I
So, the first kill goes to Jax before the game was even established
Poor thing
But it’s ok, cuz Kinger helps her out so she can get killed a whole three other times!
Speaking of, 2nd (or officially the 1st) kill of the game goes to Zooble for taking Kinger out via sniper rifle
Ragatha is shot at again shortly after.
Jax may have hit her first and literally disarmed her, but Pomni’s actually the one who took a life from her by directly aiming for her head
I think it's also been properly established that being shot is not a pleasant experience, even if done through videogame physics, so couple that with the emotional damage of getting killed by someone you wanted to be friends with...girl is gonna need more than just a chat with Kinger to unpack all that
It's also here that we see that the adventure goes beyond the average paintball rules
For someone to lose a life, it’s not enough for a player to just get hit; they have to be hit in a specific spot for it to "count"
Later, we see that not every kill that’s counted is exclusively from a headshot, so I guess the unspoken rule is that to get rid of all three of a player’s lives, they gotta get them where it would normally be considered fatal
And because of how their respective cartoon bodies work, I think Ragatha and Kinger’s "deaths" showcase the effects of these shots in the most excessively brutal ways
Another thing that I noticed is how kinda inconsistent the respawning effect works between characters
Initially it’s shown with Ragatha and Kinger that when a player loses a life, they respawn in the same place they were killed, but interestingly, the second time (or third depending on how you wanna look at it) Ragatha dies she actually respawns a few feet away from where she died
This isn’t a serious criticism of the writing btw, this is just me being a nitpicky bitch. If anything, it adds to how one-sided this match-up is because Ragatha is clearly not a real opponent for Jax, and she can’t defend herself in any meaningful way, so all she can do is run. In a twisted way, the game gave her a head start by letting her respawn just far enough away from him to do so, and to give Jax a bit more of an opportunity to chase her down
The next one to lose a life is Jax, in what I want to call the funniest gag yet. It also serves to show the differences in how the “kill” effect works for each character. While Ragatha’s doll body has stuffing bursting out of her when she gets shot, because Jax is more rubberhose in design, his body reacts in a way that's more reminiscent of a classic cartoon gag
And again, the respawn mechanism works differently for him here. He doesn’t necessarily die or even disappear after getting shot; he just loses a life after his attempt to take Ragatha’s last one literally backfires on him
To which Jax then responds by emptying his backup pistol of all its rounds into Ragatha, because he’s that much of a little bitch sore loser, sorry, I meant to say sore loser :)
Leaving Ragatha to come out of the game, only claiming 1 ❤️ to her name (that hilariously wasn’t even on purpose)
Pomni then shows up to report her stats
So far, that's a total of 3 lives claimed by Jax, 2 by Pomni, and 1 by Zooble
The fight scene between Pomni, Jax, and Kinger was really fun to go over since the majority could only be visible when someone shoots
So Pomni ends up catching some friendly fire from Jax, and I managed to get the moment where she got shot in the shoulder
And girl just takes it like a champ and keeps shooting! But we do see that her arm temporarily becomes useless to her, as in the next few frames it's shown hanging limply by her side
After Kinger announces his "ricochet super move", he ends up finishing himself off. Making Team Pew Pew officially defeated.
Now, that's 4 lives taken by Jax (the only player to shoot his own teammate), still only 2 by Pomni, still 1 by Zooble, and now 1 by Kinger (unfortunately, his own)
Next, we get Team Unmasked vs. Team Bad Guys, and this is where things get more speculative, since by the time we reach this point, it's implied that both Gangle and Zooble have been whittled down to just 1 life
So the best guess is that either Jax and Pomni got to claim 2 lives from them each, but I'm preferring to believe that Pomni got to take all 4 by herself
Is that petty? Yeah. Do I care? Nah.
Unfortunately, even with the newfound confidence that came with firing a Tommy gun while laughing manically, Pomni manages to outspeed Gangle when she gets her murder hands on a sniper rifle
Btw this could just be a complete coincidence, but it seems like they ended up falling on the same balcony where Zooble and Gangle were hiding out and managed to assassinate Kinger. So perhaps in their haste to get out of firing range when Kinger started shooting back at them, Zooble accidentally dropped the sniper rifle they used and left it behind. Giving Pomni the weapon she needed to finish off the one they were trying to protect
Again, that might not be the case, and it could be a completely different rifle, but I think it would be cool because of how delicious the irony would be if it were the same rifle
Gangle goes down, losing her last life. No confirmed kills, but much like Kinger, she went out in style. And more importantly, she got to do the one thing she wanted to do, and died truly happy
This is something that I've been wondering about ever since ep one, and here it's confirmed that, as fragile as Gangle's ComedyMask is, her "TragedyMask" (as I've been personally dubbing it) cannot actually shatter, no matter how much damage it takes. Further cementing it as not being a mask at all, and simply being her avatar's real face
Which makes the reveal of this real face for once sporting an even wider smile underneath her mask that much sweeter
With Team Unmasked now down to just Zooble, they were lucky enough to find the mother of all weapon drops just squirreled away in their room, allowing them to temporarily get the upper hand by taking full advantage of their parts gimmick for once and just going all out
Jax gets rightfully blasted first, but what I personally call bullshit is that both him and Pomni get gunned down repeatedly, yet they each only lose a single life as a result
I let a lot of things slide in this show, but this is where I call hax!
Guess Zooble should've hung around for a few more seconds to do a proper double tap
Pomni is hell of a lot more durable than she looks cuz all she does is shake off that brutal attack and immediately give chase, leaving the rabbit to sulk by himself and lick his wounds in the one place the narrative decided they needed to get reopened again
Another thing that Zooble wasn’t accounting for was Pomni pulling off her dad's ultimate move correctly and disarming them with just one bullet
Leaving them completely defenseless when Jax finally comes to join Pomni in taking out their last opponent together
And even though Pomni's the one who did all the work in taking Zooble down, since they both delivered the final shot, I'll have to award that final kill to each of them
That leaves the final, totally unbiased results of total confirmed lives taken by each player as:
Gangle 0 < Kinger 1 < Ragatha 1 < Zooble 3 < Jax 5 < Pomni 8
