I read that handshake almost the opposite to the other anon - that they tried so hard to make it nothing that it became something. no eye contact, no words, no tap, nothing. and then both of their next step forced them to put weight on the leg closest to each other so they both had to lean towards each other. the universe really said, you don’t want this to be a big deal? well too bad bc I want it to, and made it into a thing as a gift to all us rpf lovers

I actually read it the same way, anon! Though I also do like the idea of Matthew trying to make it nothing and Leon not being able to (or trying to say something but then changing his mind), it would make for such a great fic moment....

Also the funny thing about Infinite and Mephiles is they are both foils to Shadow just in different ways, commonly when it comes to character archetypes there's a believe each archetype has a passive and aggressive shadow (pun not intended)

Mephiles is definitely the aggressive one (also is literally Shadow's Shadow insert the funny ha ha's) that has the truly villainous traits we see in Shadow albeit not to the same extreme

The ego, the ruthlessness, a certain level of sadism, hatred toward humanity, and the disconnect from emotions

Infinite despite being more openly violent than Mephiles is the passive one

The deep rooted insecurity and self loathing, trauma, mental instability, isolation, serious unhealthy disregard for ones self

Both are bad people but Mephiles is the type of guy to set up an elaborate plan full of manipulation to make sure everything falls into place, Infinite is the type to destroy everything even if it means destroying himself getting revenge no matter the cost

Both even have somewhat sympathic motivations even if it doesn't justify all the shit they do
