The COVID situation has taught me several things:
A ridiculously huge number of people don’t know how food distribution works, like not a single damn aspect
A shit ton of people don’t know how non-profits work
Countless people need to have their University degrees stripped away from them because there’s no fucking way they cited any of their papers properly when they were in school if they share misinformation at the rate they do (I mean we all unintentionally share misinformation from time to time, we’re human it happens, but I have seen way too many college educated people sharing fuck tons of cropped tweets so you can’t trace the OP, things that don’t list their sources, shit with unreliable sources etc etc etc)
#the first one 100% has to do w/ people losing their shit and posting: WHY ARE FARMERS DESTROYING THEIR CROPS/DUMPING MILK WHEN#PEOPLE ARE STARVING?!?!?!?!?!#and I'm not saying American agriculture is without its flaws but Jesus Christ my dudes#it takes time to find the ways and means to change where crops etc are being sent to#and in the meantime a shit ton of product that accumulates#and if you can't get rid of it fast enough it can spoil or attract pests#and LORD the amount of stuff that gets harvested/made in larger farms and dairies#Many of these farms are trying to donate what they can to food banks etc#but another problem is covering the cost of transportation#One potato farm just put there potatoes in a HUGE ASS pile and let people come by#this is like trying to divert a river of food - it's hard - it takes time - and dickhead Republicans are making shit harder by...#...not helping with unding#*funding
