// Charlie.... as a disgraced knight from a family that turned against their allies in a time of war. Most people believe the Reimes to be dead- Charles believes himself to be the only one remaining. He always introduces himself as Charlie and never gives his surname, and since the fall of his house he's been travelling and avoiding those that might know him. He wants nothing to do with the war, and only he knows the truth behind his own betrayal.
Once known as the Golden Knight- for the Reimes' symbol is a sun and stars and his father, a minor lord over land far to the west, was called the Dusk Star- he's now.. little more than a man with broken morals and a sword that has a dirty yellow cloth tied around it's hilt.
And as a final tidbit: there's now a common song about the fall of House Reimes, a ballad. It's titled Fool's Gold.
two of my units r using twitter as a part of assessment marks/ general participation and that’s why i have depression
why did i go back?
i have an entire essay sitting in drafts that starts with how a specific thinkpiece about white male/asian female couples reminds me of my own internalized transphobia, and ends with me testing out an argument that everyone’s identities and personalities and preferences are shaped by their societal environment (including more people IDing as trans now than in previous decades, and more asian-american women marrying non-asians than asian-american men do), but accusations of one’s identity or behavior being socially influenced get levied only against identities and behaviors people want to discourage
buuuuuut idk if the world’s ready to read that post, seems like a bit of a Hot Take that could start disrespectful discourse
changed up my mobile theme a lil bit
Methemoglobinemia?
Okay, so Lexa’s got black blood. The 100 wants to be science fiction, so it tends to try and science at least some of its fiction (eg Nyko’s blood type is an actual blood type and not just a convenient plot device). So what are your guesses for why they have black blood?
Methemoglobinemia causes dark brown blood. Way more information can be found about it here, including:
1) A baby with this condition will have a bluish colouring right after birth, which would make identifying little nightbloods easy.
2) It can be naturally inherited or acquired, which means the Ice Nation could be secretly making potential Commanders, which explains why Ontari seems older than the other nightbloods.
3) Mild conditions only require simple treatments or no treatments at all (Type I where only the red blood cells are effected). This could be how they’re getting around the fact that normally darker blood = less oxygen = less energy, which doesn’t sound like Lexa at all. It would also explain why they’re teaching so many nightbloods - they may have a particularly high mortality rate from the ones who aren’t mild cases.
