SOMEONE decided a normal sized bubble nest wasn’t big enough for him!
Quill’s Aquarium Adventures - Update #9
Three pieces of big news related to my aquariums!
One: I got a bunch of new plants! Some varied amazon swords and a scarlet temple! They’re so pretty. *o*
Two: Now that it’s autumn and there are fallen leaves literally EVERYWHERE, I started collecting dried oak leaves to put in my aquariums! For bettas especially, but applicable to pretty much any fish, oak leaves impart tannins to the water that’s helpful for promoting good bacteria and it’s rumored to strengthen fish scales!
Three: I HAVE. FISH BABIES. A coworker of mine just recently put together a new setup for growing bettas, and when I brought up that I’ve been wanting to try to breed mine, he said if there were too many fry, he would love to take them off my hands to try his setup!
SO AS AN EXPERIMENT I PUT ARIES AND ATHENA IN A DIVIDED TANK AND DID A WHOLE BUNCH OF RESEARCH/PREPARATION AND. NOW I HAVE FISH BABIES. <3
Ares was really aggressive the first time I introduced Athena to him, so I was afraid it wouldn’t work and I took her out again. The next day, I tried again, and almost immediately she went to check out his bubble nest this time! Turns out, he was only super aggressive because the moron thought his totally normal sized bubble nest WASN’T BIG ENOUGH, and he didn’t want the female checking it out before it was done. -_- Buuuut then they finally figured it out and NOW I HAVE LIL’ BABY BETTAS AHHHHH
When they’re big enough to catch on camera, I’ll update y’all!
