#...unpopular opinion...#the Patagonia suit is pretty valid#they only sued when pattie filed for a trademark on clothing#I think there are definitely iffy claims in the suit#which I read#like I don't think their 2022 conversation was necessarily a binding legal agreement#but the evidence presented suggests that pattie has been toeing the line on legal use#idk they probably shouldn't make her responsible for lawyer fees but#they also run a huge risk not protecting their trademark#esp BC the brand has pretty strong values and the risk of others (not pattie) using this as an opportunity to dilute or distort#that message is pretty high#they even submitted examples of consumer confusion between the two entities which strengthens their case quite a bit#I don't really think her actual shirts are similar at all to Patagonia but I see the risk
