Love the idea that Xià only keeps in contact with Lèyáng because he saw him as very salvageable and able to grow up into a decent person. As oppose to their other brothers n half brothers they have, where Xià sees all of them as not even worth a single energy to send a letter.
Even then, Xià purposely missed a lot of weddings and events. With Lèyáng, however, he made sure to attend each one if he had time (he does, he just makes up excuses)
